Anger is a normal emotion that is familiar to most of us. It can be a very uncomfortable feeling and a powerful signal that something is wrong. The feeling of anger can consume you and that is why it is important that you know how to handle it and get it under control.
Some people use drugs and other chemicals to deal with anger. These drugs have unknown side effects, and they can occasionally become a negative impact on the mind.
Essential oils may help you overcome anger in your life, and give you a boost in attitude and a complete overhaul in how you view your life. And essential oils are a natural alternative and healthier way of healing.
When we have an emotional situation come up, instead of being overwhelmed by it, we can diffuse essential oils, put them in our bath, wear them as a cologne or perfume and even use them as an air freshener. Aromatherapy is completely natural and has been used for thousands of years and aromatherapy may enhance health and mood through the use of concentrated plant extracts. The essential oil molecules will absorb into the bloodstream and from the nasal and buccal cavity to the limbic system. They will activate the amygdala (the memory center for fear and trauma), sedate and relax the sympathetic/parasympathetic system.
Because essential oils affect the amygdala and pineal gland in the brain, they can help the mind and body by releasing emotional traumas and other upsets.

Apply and inhale essential oils.
I have been a Young Living Distributor since 1996 and I understand the amazing therapeutic qualities of Young Living essential oils and the remarkable therapeutic power of plants and nature’s healing powers through therapeutic grade essential oils. This is why number 3 says “Apply and inhale essential oils.” (Read more on quality of essential oils.)
There are over 150 different Young Living essential oils and I am going to talk about three essential oils that may help for:
Alertness
Clarity
Concentration
Retention
These oils are:
Peppermint has a strong, clean, fresh, minty aroma. Dr. William N. Dember of the University of Cincinnati studied peppermint’s ability to improve concentration and mental sharpness and found that inhaling peppermint oil increased the mental accuracy of students by 28 percent. This powerful essential oil is often diluted before topical application. Peppermint may also be used to enhance the flavor of food and water.*
Clarity oil blend promotes a clear mind and alertness. It contains stimulating oils including peppermint and rosemary, which have been used for many years to promote mental sharpness. Clarity can also be used to help restore mental alertness or wakefulness when you are experiencing fatigue or drowsiness.*
Brain Power oil blend gives your brain a boost with essential oils that are high in sesquiterpenes. Use it to clarify thought and develop greater focus.*
You can see why I have suggested these essential oils, just by reading how they may help for studying and for learning in general. They may be used for all ages, from young to elderly. The proper proportion of how much essential oil to use is determined by age and size.
Follow these steps with any of the above mentioned essential oils for adults (not youngsters or elderly).
Foot application:
The first place I would suggest applying the essential oil is to the bottoms of your feet. Before you put your shoes on for the day, take a moment to first drop 1-2 drops of the essential oil and about 1/8 teaspoon of V6 carrier oil onto the palm of your hand, stir three times in a clock like motion, and then apply to the bottoms of your feet.
When essential oils are applied to the bottoms of the feet the essential oil passes easily through the skin and cell membranes within 20 minutes.
According to researcher Jean Valnet, M.D., an essential oil that is directly applied to the skin can pass into the bloodstream and diffuse throughout the tissues in 20 minutes or less [all the more reason why you want to know your essential oil is the purest, as are Young Living Essential oils.]
Inhalation
With the remainder of the scent that is on your hands, cup your hands over your nose and take several nice long deep inhalations. (Be mindful not to touch your face with your hands, just cup your hands about an inch away from your nose and face.)
Inhaler
Another great tool and easy to carry with you anywhere, is to put essential oils into inhalers. These inhalers are great for carrying around the aroma of your favorite essential oils without having to take the whole bottle! The inhalers are small enough to easily fit in a purse, pocket, or bag so they are perfect for traveling.
(Do foot application, inhalation and inhalers with all three oils, waiting a few moments between each application.)
When the aroma of essential oils are inhaled, the scent travels to the reticular system of the brain stem where emotions and memories are connected. This enables essential oils to improve emotional wellness in many ways.
Aromatherapy, or essential oils, are helpful in elevating and balancing moods. Nature has many answers for problems, and balancing out emotions is one of them. Therapeutic grade essential oils carry the “life force” of the plant and they offer the plant’s vibrancy and normalizing effects.
The fragrance of an essential oil can directly affect everything from your emotional state to your lifespan. Essential oils work differently than any other natural substance.
The natural properties found in Young Living essential oils produce a soothing, uplifting effect on the mind and emotions. When an essential oil containing the optimum level of therapeutic constituents is inhaled, the result fosters a sense of emotional balance and well-being and the emotional balance is very effective and stimulating to the mind which of course helps with clarity, concentration and retention.
Doesn’t the thought of using a natural substance from the earth, seem like the perfect additive to stimulate your organic brain? For me that takes little thought process. Are you students ready to get started with this natural help, to see you through crunch study times? If you are,

Aroma and sprituality have been intertwined from before recorded history. It predates Paganism, Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, the romans, the Greeks, and ancient Egypt. The earliest known expression of religion dates back 100,000 years to the Neandertals.
The cave site of Shanidar located in the Zagros Mountains of Kurdistan in Iraq, shows that burials were most likely performed with some type of ceremony. In Shanidar IV there were flowers that had been introduced into the burial, they may have been chosen for their medicinal qualities. The flowers included:
Yarrow,
Cornflower,
Bachelor’s Button,
St. Barnaby’s Thistle,
Ragwort or Groundsel,
Grape Hyacinth,
Joint Pine or Woody Horsetail, and
Hollyhock
So it seems that the knowledge of the properties, if not the oils themselves, of essential oils has a very long history. Essential oils are what give herbs and plants their scent, healing properties, and in some cases can enhance our connection to God, the Creator, or whatever you believe is responsible for the creation of the universe.
Closer to recorded hsitory, through the rituals we see today, we can begin to understand the importance of aroma in spirituality.
Many of the religions today, both large and small, refer to the afterlife as a place filled with incredible aromas – the Polynesians call it Rohutu noanoa (fragrant rohutu), Buddhists will pass to the fragrant mountain known as gandhamadana, with the Greeks it was the Elysium fields (at least for heroes) which was filled with delicious fragrances.
In Ethiopia the Coptic and Orhtodox chrurches burn Fankincense and Myrrh. The Tibetans burn juniper to force the sky door open. Native Americans used, and still use, sage, sweetgrass, cedar, juniper and tobacco in their ceremonies for purification of the mind and body and to provide a link to the world of spirits and the creator. The Catholic branch of Christianity uses incense, during many of its rituals, that include frankincense, cedar, lavender, rose, sandalwood, myrrh and many others.
Each of these aromas were selected long ago because they are capable of stimulating the body/mind/soul in such a way that a connection between man and the divine can be made. This is not the same as what mind altering substances work. The mind altering substances such as LSD and peyote change how the body senses and processes information.
No matter what the religion or belief, a connection can be made, or enhanced between yourself and the divine, by the use of the aromatic compounds found in plants.

Our emotions need improvements, and often times it may be difficult understanding how to go about changing how negative emotions are effecting our overall mood. We are all familiar with making home improvements when they are needed. What about emotional improvements? Emotional home improvement, this is another way of looking at, and understanding our emotions.
Emotions are triggered by many situations, from someones actions towards us, the media, loss, stress, the weather, disappointment, trauma and the list goes on. We can feel hurt, sad, angry, lonely, fearful, ungrateful, worried, confused, or unloved. So what are some easy ways to turn our emotions around?
Here are a few steps that may help in getting started recognizing a negative, unhealthy emotion. Once we begin to recognize them, the next step is understanding the type of emotion, so that we can determine how to help begin to feel better and more positive.
Recognizing a negative emotion.
Realizing our emotions are indeed in need of improvement.
Taking time to turn negative emotions into positive emotions.
Understanding that each emotion may need a different approach in correcting it.
The next step towards this new positive change, is with Young Living therapeutic grade essential oils. Young Living essential oils give you the results and true therapy your body needs. Essential oils are the only substance on earth to support the entire body, and once a therapeutic-grade essential oil is applied to the body, whether by inhalation, ingestion, or topical application to the skin, the essential oil enters the bloodstream. The essential oil is then metabolized and chemically changed quite rapidly, but during this period a multitude of therapeutic effects are possible. The effect we are looking for here is to correct our emotions.
There are many emotions to deal with, but I am going to write about what to do for sadness. Young Living has several different essential oils that may help to alleviate the feeling of sadness and the one that I most often use and find lifts my spirits is Joy.
This is what I do with Joy:
Apply 2-3 drops to the bottoms of each of my feet.
Inhale the scent from my hands, by cupping my hands over my nose. Taking several long inhalations.
Diffuse Joy essential oil blend in my diffuser throughout the day for 15 minuets at a time. Not only are my spirits lifted, but the aroma in the room is a beautiful floral scent.
I find that the effects of Joy oil lifting my spirits is within seconds and I am always thankful that I am feeling better and thrilled with the amazing quickness that essential oils help.
Diffusing or directly inhaling essential oils can have an immediate positive impact on mood. Olfaction is the only sense that can have direct effects on the limbic region of the brain.
Essential oils operate by interacting with the cells of the ‘olfactory‘ system, where upon reaching a membrane inside and at the very top of the nose after inhalation. The interaction of natural fragrant molecules on the olfactory membrane initiates a nerve signal that can quickly trigger various parts of the brain to respond – invoking a memory, a feeling, calming, alertness, reduced anxiety, or simply the perception of a scent.
Here are other essential oils which may be beneficial in help alleviating sadness:
Cedarwood
Lemon
Jasmine
Frankincense
Peppermint
Valor blend
Hope blend
Clinical studies at the Department of Psychiatry at the Mie University of Medicine showed that lemon not only reduced depression but reduced stress when inhales.(1)
Young Living essential oils are a much better alternative therapy for many situations. Isn’t it better knowing that you are being helped with a natural substance, a quality essential oil from Young Living, rather then taking medications that can also cause adverse effects and more problems.
Are you ready to now make your emotional “home” improvements? This is the right place for you to accomplish a healthier, happier feeling from the inside out. I look forward to hearing from you, please do not hesitate to contact me, so that I can help you to choose the essential oil that may help you to feel better emotionally.

Therapeutic grapefruit essential oil has a lovely scent, great taste, and many benefits. In this article Dr. David Stewart writes about the origins of this amazing fruit and how to use grapefruit essential oil. Young Living grapefruit essential oil is therapeutic-grade, food-grade (for cooking and ingesting as a dietary supplement), and can be used in a diffuser or applied topically. The versatility of a high quality essential oil is priceless and particularly useful for today’s men and women who seek lifestyles that are more natural and bring wellness benefits.
Grapefruit the Great Fruit
by David Stewart, Ph.D., R.A., D.N.M.
The Latin name for grapefruit is Citrus paradisi , which means, Fruit of Paradise. There were no Grapefruit trees in the Garden of Eden, but considering the many virtues of the fruit, maybe they should have been there.
Grapefruit (also known as pomelo) is a hybrid, a fruit-bearing tree created by the union of Citrus sinensis and Citrus maxima (also called Citrus grandis). The first of these (C. sinensis) is the common sweet orange. The second (C. maxima or grandis) is a large some-what sour fruit called the pummelo that is closely related to the lemon.
The odd name for this rather large ungrapelike fruit seems to originate from the fact that grapefruits grow in clusters of 12-24, like huge bunches of grapes. At least, that is the theory held by most botanists. Other authorities say that to them the taste of grapefruit is very much like the taste of grapes and, thus, could be another possible source for the name. Personally I don’t find the taste of a grapefruit to be anything like that of a grape. So I favor the bunch theory for the name.
Where Did Grapefruits Come From?
Historians and botanists are not certain of the origin of this cross between species and do not know exactly why, how, and by whom such a marriage was ever made. It did not exist in ancient times. The best guess is that it originated in Jamaica some time after Columbus landed in the West Indies in 1492, although some argue that it originated in the islands of southeastern Asia where pummelo trees are indigenous and common. One thing is certain: the versatility and benefits of grapefruit truly are amazing.
Grapefruit has long been considered a helpful food for weight loss. It is a refreshing, satisfying snack one can enjoy with no concern over calories. Grapefruit oil can also be used as an appetite suppressant, when mixed with drinking water, put on the tongue, or simply inhaled. Grapefruit oil also dissolves fat and has been used to address cellulite.
It is also said to help with acne, digestion, fluid retention, and disorders of the liver, kidneys, vascular, and lymphatic systems. It has also been used to assist in drug withdrawal.
Its fragrance is mood elevating and has been used as an anti-depressant. It has also been applied for migraine headaches, pre-menstrual tension, fatigue, and jet lag.
Five Drops in an Olympic Pool
One of the amazing facts about the fragrance of grapefruit oil is that the distinctly characteristic aroma that identifies and sets grapefruit oil apart from all other citrus oils is from a trace compound. All citrus oils are composed mostly of the same compound, a monoterpene called d-limonene. It is d-limonene that gives they all the common smell of citrus. Yet it is not difficult to distinguish fragrances between orange, lemon, lime, tangerine, mandarin, and grapefruit oils. The differences are in their minor and trace compounds.
Grapefruit oil is over 90% d-limonene, but it contains something not found in any other citrus oil. It is a sulfur compound, whose strange name is 1-p-menthen-8-thiol, that dominates the smell of grapefruit. Without it, grapefruit would not smell like grapefruit. Yet, this compound comprises only one part per billion of the whole oil. That is equivalent to less than five drops in an olympic swimming pool. It would take highly sophisticated laboratory analysis equipment to detect such a tiny amount of a compound in an oil, yet your nose is sensitive enough to instantly detect this trace ingredient and your body makes use of it in receiving the therapeutic benefits unique to grapefruit.
Importance of Retaining Trace Compounds in an Oil
This is yet another example of why only therapeutic grade oils, which retain all of the trace compounds, should be used for healing purposes. Food and perfume grade oil companies care only about compounds in an oil that provide taste and odor [more on quality]. Therefore, such producers do not exert the extra effort to preserve minor or trace components unless they contribute to taste or smell. The healing properties of an oil almost always involve the minor and trace compounds, which do not always contribute to taste or fragrance, but are essential for therapeutic action.
The fact that a trace compound like 1-p-menthen-8-thiol can be detected in a grapefruit by the human nose, when present in such a minute concentration as 1 ppb, is proof that our bodies do sense, interact, and utilize the trace compounds in an oil that must be there for the healing properties of an oil to remain complete and intact.
The Smell of Feminine Youthfulness
Recent data have discovered yet another attribute of the multifaceted fragrance and properties of grapefruit.
A study of smells shows that the scent of grapefruit on women make them seem younger to men, causing them to underestimate the age of women by an average of six years. However, the fragrance of grapefruit on men does nothing for them.
The study by the Smell and Taste Institute in Chicago explored the question of what makes a woman smell young. The smell of pink bubble gum made women smell young, but too young. The odor of bubble gum caused men to think of women in their childhoods as little girls, not as younger, yet mature in their womanhood.
Institute director, Alan Hirsch, said he smeared several middle-aged woman with broccoli, banana, spearmint leaves, and lavender but none of those scents made a difference to the men, including the floral fragrance of the lavender, which is often used in feminine perfumes.
However, the scent of grapefruit altered men’s perceptions. Hirsch said that when male volunteers were asked to write down the ages of women with a grapefruit odor, the age they perceived was considerably less than reality.
So there you have it, ladies. The fountain of youth may be in the aroma of grapefruit juice, at least for women. Men have been smearing colognes, after shave lotions, aromatic oils, and other manly potions on their bodies for thousands of years, in attempts to make themselves more attractive to the opposite sex. As yet, science has found no fragrance to make men seem younger than they really are.

Young Living’s grapefruit essential oil is found in the essential oil blends and products:
Have you ever had severe ear aches with terrible pain and this required you to take a trip to the doctor? Have your ear drums ruptured? If you have you may worry about when you get older and possibly becoming hard of hearing. Or perhaps your ears are very sensitive to sound. If any of this is the case in your life, you may be susceptible to ear aches. What ever the case may be, when ear aches come on, they are not pleasant to deal with.
When an ear ache does not go away and is very painful it can really bring you down and it can be hard to cope. For sure you don’t want to go out into the cold air or to get water in my ears. It’s a good idea to keep your ears covered when out in nature and the weather is nasty.
I am so grateful to be a Young Living distributor because I know how Young Living therapeutic grade essential oils may help with an ear ache should I get one. I also know the importance of using only quality essential oils. Knowing that I am part of a company that’s focus and intent is to bring pure, natural, organic essential oils to the world is such a relief and a pleasure to share with others.
The essential oil therapy to use for earaches is with the essential oil blend of Thieves and this is what I do;
Put 2-4 drops of Thieves in the palm of your hand or in a glass bowl or cup, with approximately 1/2 of a teaspoon of V-6 Enhanced Vegetable Oil Complex.
Stir the mixture clockwise 3 times, to get the energy flowing.
Dip your finger in the oil mixture and apply around both ears, on the front and back of your ear and just a bit on the opening of each ear.
Next take a Q-tip, dip it into the mixture and gently rub the inner part of your ears.
Put some of the oil mixture on cotton balls and insert into your ears.
Lastly, and how I always end any time I am using essential oils, with some of the Thieves blend in the palm of my hands, cup your hands over your nose, (being sure to not touch my face), and take 3 nice long breaths. You get the pleasure of the beautiful scent and the benefits of aromatherapy.
This has done the job for me and has immediately stopped the pain and started me on my way to healing. You can also put a warm compress to your ears as the warmth feels good and helps the healing process move along even quicker.

About 75 percent of U.S. households use air fresheners, according to NRDC. The air freshener industry is now worth over $1.72 billion in the United States, a 50-percent increase over 2003.
It is estimated that 95% of chemicals used in fragrances are synthetic compounds derived from petroleum (petroleum is a liquid mixture of hydrocarbons that is present in certain rock strata, extracted and refined to produce fuels including gasoline, kerosene, and diesel oil).
It is estimated that more than 3000 different chemicals are used in fragrance production.
Even most essential oils are not entirely natural; the aromatherapy oils sold in stores, even those sold in health food stores. Harsh chemicals are used by most companies in their extraction process. Chemical solvents such as hexane and heptanes are used to extract the maximum amount of essential oil from the plant, so it is important to buy high quality oils from a source you can trust – such as Young Living Essential Oils.
Why do air fresheners make us sick?
Air fresheners coat nasal passages (more about the olfactory system) with an oil film and/or reduce your ability to smell odors. These products often contain Formaldehyde – a highly toxic material that can irritate eyes, nose, throat, and skin. High exposure can cause nausea, headaches, nosebleeds, dizziness, memory loss and shortness of breath.
The main toxin in room fresheners, urinal cakes, moth balls, paints, household cleaning products, and vehicle exhaust fumes is 1,4 dichlorobenzene (1,4 DCB).
A recent National Institute of Environmental Health Services (NIEHS) study published in Environmental Health Perspectives showed that among 953 adults 1,4 DCB was linked to a reduction in lung function.
Check your household products, read the labels to see if they contain 1,4 DCB. If they do, refuse to use and buy them!
Even air fresheners marketed as “all-natural” or “unscented” contain hazardous chemicals. The term “all-natural” has come to mean absolutely nothing, the only thing that is required to label a product as “All-Natural” is that at one point in time, the ingredient came from nature. Even products labeled as “Organic” do not have to be completely organic.
The thing that disgusts me most is the manipulation in advertising promoting their product as being better because it contains essential oils, this is so misleading to consumers.
What consumers really need to know is this…
Only 2% of ALL essential oils distilled in the entire world are completely pure of toxic chemicals and considered high quality. This means that the chances of a company using a truly pure essential oil is absolutely zero! No company is going to use a higher quality essential oil in their product because of the expense. Their market targets people who don’t know the difference. At the end of the day, all they’re concerned with is how much money ends up in ‘their’ pocket – they’re not at all concerned with your health or the health of your kids and pets. And believe me, the health problems these products cause is costing us all a fortune in health care. It’s unbelievable the chemicals they’re ‘allowed’ to use, and they are NEVER tested, nor are they required to reveal their full list of ingredients.
What many consumers do not know is how simple and inexpensive it is to make their own products; whether it’s making their own air fresheners, their own cleaning products, or their own personal care products.
The most valuable piece of information I can share with you is this…
I can guarantee you that I spend less money every month on air fresheners, household cleaning products, and personal care products than someone who buys off-brand (cheap) products. Plus, I save tons of money over time than those folks do because I’m not getting sick from using the products they have in their homes, health care costs are FAR more expensive than making smart choices that prevent you from being exposed daily to products that are making you sick over time.
Simply using Young Living’s Thieves Ultra Toothpaste alone has saved me many thousands of dollars in dental expenses. The Thieves Ultra Toothpaste is like no other I have ever seen – it actually out-performs all others. But that’s getting off topic, I just had to let you know that it makes a huge difference.
Making my own air fresheners and diffusing my Young Living essential oils helps prevent us from getting a cold and flu because the essential oils actually kill those microorganisms without exposing us to harmful chemicals. See some of my favorite household and personal care tips and recipes, it’s so easy to make your own products!
From Ask Dr. Weil: Air Fresheners – are they bad for my health?
Q: I use air fresheners in my home, but have been told I shouldn’t. Are they bad for my health?
A: It certainly looks like they are. Recent research strongly suggests that they raise your risk of a number of pulmonary diseases. Last year researchers found that being exposed to chemicals from air fresheners as little as once a week may increase your odds of developing asthma symptoms by 71 percent. And a 2006 study showed that people with high blood levels of the chemical 1,4 dichlorobenzene commonly found in air fresheners – were more likely to experience a decline in lung function.
Other studies point to a cancer link. University of California, Berkeley, researchers determined that, when used in small, poorly ventilated rooms, some air fresheners emit pollutants that create high levels of formaldehyde, a carcinogen shown to cause cancer in animals and respiratory irritation in humans.
Last year, the Natural Resources Defense Council evaluated 14 air fresheners, 12 of which had varying amounts of phthalates, chemicals that may affect fertility, cause cancer, and trigger developmental abnormalities in infants. The NRDC and other environmental groups filed a petition calling for all air freshener-related products to be tested for consumer safety and regulated by the government.
I recommend freshening the air by opening windows and eliminating the sources of unpleasant odors. If you enjoy aromas indoors, opt for natural items such as a lavender plant, potted herbs, or a bouquet of fresh flowers.
Andrew Weil, M.D., is a pioneer in the field of holistic health and founder and director of the Program in Integrative Medicine at the College of Medicine, University of Arizona. He received his medical training at Harvard University.
The term “aromatherapy” was coined by the French chemist Ren-Maurice Gattefoss in the early 1920s. Gattefoss spent his life devoted to essential oils and their healing properties. However, for more than 6,000 years prior to Gattefoss, aromatherapy had been used by the Egyptians, Romans, and the Greeks. Imhotep, an Egyptian physician, suggested that oils be used for massage, bathing, and embalming the dead. Hippocrates, known as the father of modern medicine, used aromatic smoke and vapors to purge Athens of the plague.
Today, much has been theorized regarding the effects of diffusing essential oils, which can be considered similar to the aromatic smoke used by Hippocrates. It has been hypothesized that when essential oils are diffused, they can increase atmospheric oxygen by releasing oxygenating molecules into the air. Not only can essential oils increase oxygen in the atmosphere, they also increase the body’s ability to transport oxygen into the cells. The lipid-soluble structure of essential oils allows them to easily penetrate the cell membranes of the nose and enter into the bloodstream. Once in the bloodstream, the oils can help transport oxygen and nutrients into the cells.
Primary Benefits
Transform your surroundings: Create a relaxing, spa-like atmosphere or instantly brighten the mood of your home or office.
Eliminate odors: Remove lingering smells without resorting to synthetic air fresheners.
Protect your family’s health: Safeguard your family’s health by detoxing your home from harmful household chemicals.
Aroma Coverage: Depending on which essential oil is being used, the aroma from the Home Diffuser will fill a 700-square-foot area.
Noise: The Home Diffuser is virtually silent; all you may hear is a faint hum from the ultrasonic fan.
Therapeutic Value: The Home Diffuser can run for hours on just a few drops of oil. However, the more oil you put in the diffuser, the more oil will be dispersed in the air for your therapeutic needs.
How to Make Your Own Spray Air Freshener
What you will need:
14 oz. spray bottle (get the ones that are slightly more expensive, they last a lot longer than the cheap spray bottles)
Essential Oils (I only use and recommend Youg Living Essential Oils)
Water
Fill spray bottle 7/8 of the way full with water, add 20-30 drops of your chosen Young Living blend or combination of singles). Give the spray bottle a little shake and spray into the air; I like to hold the bottle high, towards the ceiling, when I spritz. I also like to give surfaces (door knobs, wall light swicthes, bathroom and kitchen surfaces) a little spray too as this will help kill the germs that can spread cold and flu.
Good Essential Oil choices for homemade air freshener spray or Home Diffuser:
Thieves (well known for it’s germ and mold killing abilities, this is an extremely popular choice, smells clean!)
Citrus Fresh (a blend of citrus oils, nice fresh scent)
Christmas Spirit (this blend is very nice during winter, a warm pine scent)
Orange & Lavender combined (fresh and clean scent, great for stress and anxiety also)
Purification (kills odors and germs, adding some Orange to this blend is a very nice scent)
Peppermint (really kills odors in the air, keeps away ants and mice too!).

“Fragrance is the wardrobe of the atmosphere,” says Gus Klein, of Garner Franklin Klein in Dallas. “It’s sort of the final presentation for your home. You can have all kinds of nice things in your house, but the one thing constant is the air you’re breathing.”
What a beautiful way to describe the need to enhance our home environment with essential oils. But why would you choose essential oils over, let’s say, air fresheners and novelty aromatherpay products? Quite simply… you’re taking those substances into your body through your skin and lungs. What you’re also taking in are the chemicals in those products too. More on Aromatherapy.
My favorite two ways of getting the scent of my Young Living Essential Oils into the air are: 1) diffusing, and 2) making my own spray air freshener.
My preferred aromatherapy oil diffuser of choice is the cold-air nebulizer diffuser (shown). This is by far the best way to get my Young Living oils into the air where they can do their amazing work. It’s only when the mcrofine mist of the essential oil, coming out of the diffuser, comes into contact with the particles in the indoor air that are the root of the smelly house problem. Once the essential oil comes into contact with them they odor causing particles are either neutralized (in the case of smelly stuff like mildew, smoke, cooking odors, stinky stuff in general), or killed (in the case of microorganisms). High quality essential oils, such as Young Living, do not mask odors – odors are actually eliminated.
This is actually what I did over twenty years ago, when I first got into essential oils – it is cheap and effective! I made, and still make, my own essential oil spray air fresheners and surface disinfectant. This is so easy and cheap to do that I highly recommend it over store bought air fresheners and novelty aromatherapy products…
You will need a 14 oz. spray bottle (get the one that’s more expensive as the spray trigger will last years, rather than mere weeks before breaking) and some high quality essential oils (don’t even bother with the cheaper aromatherapy oils, they are mosting carrier oils and the small amount of essential oil they do contain is low quality).
Take your spray bottle and fill it 7/8 of the way full with water, then add 20-30 drops of your chosen essential oil single or blend (see some of my favorite choices below). Shake and spray! Yes, it’s that simple!
This homemade spray air fresher you can spray into the air just like you would when using commercial air fresheners – but don’t stop there! Use it to also clean and disinfect kitchen and bathroom surfaces, disinfect door knobs, phones, keyboards, light switches (go lightly though, you do NOT need to drench your surfaces for it to be effective).
Some of my favorite essential oils for the holidays and wintertime for either diffusing or for a spray air freshener are:
Christmas Spirit – a warm spicy and citrus, uplifting scent.
Thieves – a spicy, refreshing, and sparkling clean smelling scent.
Purification – a citrusy citronella scent, a clean smelling scent. I like to add Orange essential oil to this blend for an extra nice fresh scent. In the summertime, add 12-18 drops of Young Living Peppermint to Purification and use as a spray to repel tiny ants.
Citrus Fresh – a citrus, very uplifting aroma, fresh and clean.
Lavender and Orange: I mix equal portions of both Orange and Lavender essential oils. This smells divine and also helps with stress and anxiety.

Most deodorants, including “natural” and “crystal” deodorants can be VERY unsafe. Many deodorants today are loaded with toxic chemicals ranging from aluminum to antifreeze.
