Grief and sorrow come to all of us at sometime in our lives.  They are not times we care to experience or to wish upon others, but it is inevitable that we will experience awful times of sorrow and grief. To be able to get through these powerful feelings and emotions can be very difficult and even more difficult for others.

5 Ways to deal with grief or sorrow:

  1. Talk to family or friends. Reach out to them, by calling them. It can be difficult to pick up the phone, but it is important for you to be able to have someone to talk to.  If you don’t have someone, call a church or a hospital to find out about support groups.  Yes, it is easier to be alone, and that is OK, but not all of the time.  We do need someone to talk with, or to listen to.
  2. Read self help books or inspirational books that relate to what you are going through. Or listen to them on tape, if you are having a hard time focusing. Listening to the words can be a great help too.  Sometimes this can be a much easier way to take in the helpful words.  We may be able to comprehend better than when we read, because when we are in a deep place of grief it can be difficult to focus on words.
  3. Getting out in nature, going for walks, or even for drives to pretty places, can help us to reflect on the beauty around us and remind us of other blessings in our lives. Remember if you are able to go for walks to breath in the fresh air.  Fresh air is invigorating, intoxicating and down right good for our body and well being.
  4. Aromatherapy is natural way of achieving optimal emotional and physical health. The fragrance of an essential oil can directly affect everything from your emotional state to your lifespan. Thus, a therapeutic essential oil can affect our feelings and thoughts because smell is our most emotional sense. Scent stimulates nerves to fire in the emotional center of the brain, but it also stimulates the master gland to release hormones. Hormones affect the fight/flight response, as well as digestion and heart rate. In this way, essential oils can affect us in many ways all at once, just through their fragrance.  Aromatherapy is a very positive way that may help to heal from emotional pain.*
  5. Raindrop Technique utilizing emotional Young Living therapeutic-grade essential oils, could also be an excellent way to move to healing from grief and sorrow.  Raindrop Technique is a simple practice that can be learned and may be very beneficial for emotional healing and physical healing. (Read my article on Raindrop Technique for Mind, Body and Soul)*

To achieve optimal emotional well being does not come without work. It takes dedication, will, and belief that it is attainable.  I would feel great pleasure if I were able to help you to begin your journey of healing.  Please feel free to contact me, with questions or just to have someone to talk to. 1. Dilute 1 drop Gentle Baby to 1 teaspoon V-6 (a Young Living carrier oil) Apply topically for dry, chapped skin or diaper rash.

  3. Apply over mother’s abdomen, on feet, lower back, face, and neck areas.
  4. Dilute with 1-2 tablespoons V-6 for body massage and for applying on baby’s skin, tips for foot massage.
  5. For Pregnancy and Delivery: Use for massage throughout entire pregnancy for relieving stress and anxiety, and to prevent scarring and creating serenity. Massage on the perineum to help it stretch for easier birthing.
  6. Mix a drop of Gentle Baby with a dab of Young Living Tender Tush for softening skin anywhere on the body – this is excellent for heels, knees, legs, elbows, tummies, or hands!
  7. Use in the same dilution with V-6 for birthing mother dogs.

Note: Possible sun sensitivity due to the presence of citrus oils and bergamot, do not expose skin to direct sunlight where Gentle Baby has been applied.

Gentle Baby Testimonial

“The 3,000 mile long drive across the country when I moved to North Carolina was hard on my body, particularly my legs. My feet, ankles and calves were very swollen from sitting in the car driving for a week. I tried a few different oils and the one that made the biggest difference was, oddly, Gentle Baby! It made the swelling go down and the discomfort ease – go figure!

Moral of the story – if one oil doesn’t work – try another, don’t limit your choices to what you think an oil may or not do… you just never really know.” ~ Evelyn Vincent

Valentines Day for lovers only? Do you feel left out because you are single and don’t have a partner? Are you lonely and yearn for the touch from a loving and caring person or kind thoughtful words to set your heart racing? If you are experiencing any of these emotions and feeling the picture is not going to change, at least perhaps not before Valentines Day, are you going to feel bad because of being without that someone special, or do you want to feel emotionally better and feel your ’self-love’, ’self-worth’, ’self-care’?

There are numerous reasons why many people are alone. From loss due to a death, divorce, or just not having ever met that Miss or Mister Right. It can be a very lonely feeling when one is in that space and especially at times like Valentines Day or other monumental times in our lives. You can complain about the unfairness of it all, remain bitter and unforgiving and not able to let go, that is a choice. Or you can change and overcome and transform those unhappy, unhealthy feelings for better ones. Forgiving someone does not condone what someone else did; it simply releases us from the pain of their actions. It all is a choice and a choice only you can make.

I was married, am now divorced and have been single for many years.  It was difficult a lot of the time, but there were several things that helped me to turn around and to feel better, and that helped to pull me up off the ground out of my darkest hours. I call them my five fixes.

My Five Fixes

  1. My Blessings: One way for me to feel better was to count my many blessings. This in itself got me back on track to feeling better, as I am blessed, and I know that many people are less fortunate.  One can always find good in a circumstance. Sometimes it may be hard to see it, but if you try hard, you can see that your life is better in some way, than someone elses.
  2. Gratitude: Gratitude in itself can improve your life. By simply focusing on what it is we are grateful for we can improve our lives in a big way. I have been starting and ending my day for many years, saying to myself and God, what I am grateful for. I truly believe I am even more blessed because of this.
  3. Make the call:  Call someone. For me this was a tough one, the first time being the toughest. When you are able to talk with someone, it makes  your loneliness more tolerable and you feel the caring from your friend or family member you spoke with.
  4. Journal: Daily writing my thoughts, my blessings, what I am grateful for, who I talked with, or how beautiful a day it was. It is very therapeutic to write. It does not have to be long, it could be just a few words, or you can write a chapter. Just be sure to write.
  5. Essential oils: This is by far a very amazing, rewarding and healing part of my continual life’s journey. I tend to start my day by applying and massaging Young Living essential oil blend of Joy onto the bottoms of my feet.  This keeps my mood uplifted throughout the day.

Alright then, soon it will be Valentines Day and many of us are single, so we need to focus on what will boost our spirits, make us happy, relaxed and loved.  Sometimes it may be hard to think of what will make us happy, so I’ve put together a few suggestions of what I would do.

  • Start my day by applying Rose oil to my pulse points and under my nose, so that I can smell the beautiful scent throughout the day.
  • Get a massage and take your favorite essential oil of choice. (Mine would be Peace and Calming, unless I had aching muscles, then it would be Balsam Fir or PanAway)
  • Go get a pedicure or manicure and once again take your favorite essential oil of choice to soak your feet and hands in. (Mine would be peppermint and lavender)
  • Go out to dinner with a friend or friends and then rent some movies or go to the movies.
  • Diffuse essential oil blend of Harmony to help me to feel emotionally balanced, calm and open to new possibilities and an overall feeling of well-being.

For some this may be too boring, but I am a simple gal leading a pretty calm, simplistic life, so it works for me.  My main focus and passion that keeps my life upbeat and healthy is the fact that Young Living essential oils have been in my life since 1996 and I know that my Valentines Day will be brighter, happier and filled with loving feelings because I surround my self with our quality oils. If you would like to learn more about Young Living essential oils, I would enjoy hearing from you, please contact me so that I can help you to get started with the right choice of essential oils to help you too to have a more fulfilled Valentines Day.

Throughout history and into the future someone will be lacking in self-confidence. Some are blessed with confidence and others are not. We may grow and mature and become more confidence, but for others it may not come so easily and it could be debilitating and hard at times for some to cope with this low esteem.

In my previous article “5 Ways to Build Self-Confidence” I made suggestions of different essential oil blends to include in the 5 Ways to Build Self-Confidence process.  Following is the list of each essential oil, how they may help, and how to use them.

1.  Valor Roll On works with both the physical and spiritual aspects of the body to increase feelings of strength, courage, and self-esteem in the face of adversity. Renowned for its strengthening qualities, Valor enhances an individuals internal resources.*

  • Apply Valor Roll On generously to feet, wrists, or back of the neck. Also apply in the palm of your hand and then cup your hands over your nose and take three long inhalations of the scent.  (Keep your hands from touching your skin)

2.  Joy oil is a luxuriously exotic blend with uplifting overtones that creates magnetic energy and brings joy to the heart, which may exude from you to others.*

  • Diffuse and/or apply one to two drops of Joy oil behind your ears, on your temples, wrists, over your heart, and onto the bottoms of your feet. Also apply a drop onto the palm of your hand and then cup your hands over your nose and take three long inhalations of the scent. (Keep your hands from touching your skin)

3.  Gratitude is a soothing blend of therapeutic-grade essential oils designed to elevate the spirit, calm emotions, and bring relief to the body while helping to foster a grateful attitude.

  • Diffuse and/or apply one to two drops of Gratitude oil behind your ears, on your temples, wrists, over your heart, and onto the bottoms of your feet.  Also apply a drop onto the palm of your hand and then cup your hands over your nose and take three long inhalations of the scent. (Keep your hands from touching your skin)

4.  Acceptance stimulates the mind with oils specially blended to promote feelings of accepting ourselves and others, regardless of perceived barriers. This blend also helps overcome procrastination and denial.

  • Diffuse and/or apply one to two drops of Acceptance over the heart, on the wrists, behind the ears, on the neck and on the face.  Also apply a drop onto the palm of your hand and then cup your hands over your nose and take three long inhalations of the scent. (Keep your hands from touching your skin)

5.  Stress Away Roll On is a unique blend of vanilla, lime, copaiba, and other pure essential oils relieves daily stress, encourages relaxation, and reduces nervous tension.

  • Apply Stress Away Roll On generously to feet, wrists, or back of the neck. Also apply in the palm of your hand and then cup your hands over your nose and take three long inhalations of the scent.  (Keep your hands from touching your skin)

On any given day you could use any of these oils, or any of our other 150 essential oils for physical, mental or spiritual natural healing.

Essential oils are the natural, aromatic volatile liquids found in shrubs, flowers, trees, roots, bushes, and seeds.  Only certain plants contain essential oils, they are known as the aromatic plants. The essential oil is formed in very small structures in the leaves, flowers, or other parts of the plant. (Read more on “What is an essential oil”)

Historically, essential oils have played a prominent role in everyday life. With more than 200 references to aromatics, incense, and ointments throughout the Bible, essential oils are said to be used for anointing and healing the sick.  Essential oils are the only substance to support our entire body, physically, emotionally, spiritually, or for our social health and our mental health.

Young Living essential oils are very concentrated and a small portion of essential oil is all that is needed at the time of each use.  Once a therapeutic-grade essential oil is applied to the body, whether by inhalation, ingestion, or topical application to the skin, the essential oil enters the bloodstream. The essential oil is then metabolized and chemically changed quite rapidly, and during this period a multitude of therapeutic effects are possible.

Hence the way and essential oil works depends on the constituents that are in each oil and on the individual the essential oil is being applied to.  Each Young Living essential oil blend has been formulated to work towards helping for specific concerns. This is why I am suggesting the above oils. When applied topically, diffused or inhaled the benefits are truly remarkable to experience.

The quality is another very important factor and very important for you to understand that I am only talking about and suggesting the use of Young Living therapeutic essential oil.  Young Livings goal is to have only the purest oils available on the market and the quality is never a question.

When diffusing these Young Living essential oil blends you may experience relaxation, stress reduction, clarity of mind, uplifting, feelings of acceptance, joy, courage, self esteem and much more.

The Nebulizer diffuser is, sometimes also called a ‘Cold-Air Nebulizer Diffuser’. It is perhaps the best type as it is the most versatile for all purposes. The benefits of this type of diffuser are that it literally puts the essential oil into the air in micro-fine particles that stay suspended in the air for several hours. Diffusing 5 to 15 minutes several times a day is a good practice to follow.  Read more on diffusing.

I was standing in line at the grocery store recently when, as usual, a tabloid jumped out at me-this one regarding the popular actresses Jeniffer Aniston and Angelina Jolie. It read something like “Angelina Jolie, tired and bony while Jennifer Aniston struts her stuff”. Now, I will admit, I am a fan of Aniston’s, and not so much Jolie, but as a mother the tabloids point was a huge dud. If that tabloid was designed to make Jolie jealous, it probably failed, as it should have.

What mother would get so jealous that she would trade one of her children in for a better body-even it it was the most beautiful body on the planet? Perhaps it is only us mother’s who could understand this fact of life!

We mom’s love our babies, and would do anything for them, including stay up all night with them and forget our own needs in order to put theirs first. And as the tabloid did successfully make clear, no actively involved mom is exempt from this! As a result we too often don’t look our best. Since we don’t count the costs, bags under the eyes and other not-so-great looks can add up fast, which can subtract from self esteem.

So, mom’s,  here are four;

Tips from the Mommy trenches!

Tip 1.

When you are totally frazzled at the end of the day, don’t underestimate the power of an Epsom salt Lavender bath. Bath fizzers can be made as well-see a video on how to make them here. True lavender is specifically noted in the Essential Oils Desk Reference for depression and relaxation. Cation; most true lavenders are extended with chemicals. I purchase and recommend only pure, quality oils purchased here.

Tip 2.

Invest in a good eye cream. Good ones are expensive, but they do last a LONG time, so don’t wilt too much at the cost because it will pay itself off. Remember, you are worth it, puffy bags under the eyes aren’t! Don’t forget to look for an all natural one.

Tip 3.

SUPPLEMENT yourself! A good multi-vitamin should help boost your energy, nourish and feed your body so that it can look it’s best from the inside out. I recommend only whole food vitamins because regular vitamins are not easily absorbed by the body. In fact, many are eliminated from the body without even disolving. If you cannot tell a difference on your multi-vitamin, it probably is not doing anything for you. My favorite is True Source from Young Living. I notice my skin stay’s clearer and prettier when I am on it too. You can learn more about why whole food vitamins are better here.

Tip 4.

Try aromatherapy. Once you have experienced the mind, spirit, and body revitalization abilities of pure, therapeutic grade essential oils, you know why I say TRY THEM!  You will never be the same again! They truly can transform your attitude from cranky, tired, and plain ugly to peaceful, postive, and beautiful in seconds, and what is it that the men folk love more then the perfect face and bod??? It is a SMILING, positive woman with a sparkle in her eye!!! Read my article entitled The Health and Beauty Connection.

The following 2 essential oil blends are some of my “mommy transformation” favorites!

  • Overwhelmed and can’t figure out what to take on first? Or just need something to help you relax (or your children relax)? I recommend applying a blend called Peace and Calming. It smells earthy and citrusy and is great for melting anxiety.
  • If you are just feeling down in the dumps, try the uplifting blend called Joy. Joy smells like a combination of floral and citrus.

Yes, these look expensive but when you consider that

  1. they are a very worth-while investment that will pay you back
  2. they will last a loooong time (there are 250 drops per bottle and you only use it by the drop)
  3. and when you consider all you do for others, that you deserve and could use the help these oils give, ask yourself,

ARE YOU NOT WORTH IT? Let me assure you, if you are a mom, you are worth it!

How to use these oils;

  • You can use them in a bath
  • Wear them as perfume on your wrists, neck, and by your ears
  • Put them on a necklace pendant to smell all day long
  • Inhalation therapy; place a drop or two of the oil in the palms of your hand, with fingertips twirl the oils in a clockwise motion, then cup your hands together over your mouth and nose and inhale!

Unless otherwise stated, these statements have not been evaluated by the FDA. This article is not intended to diagnose, prescribe, claim to cure, or treat disease. Seek the advice of a professional in the case of disease or medical emergency.

Self-Confidence is a daily struggle for many to achieve, and the cause of lacking self-confidence may come in a multitude of forms.  It could be difficult to feel self-confidence due to our upbringing, relationships, health issues, ridicule from peers, appearance, work environment or even the community we live in.  What ever the reason for lacking self-confidence, there is always the possibility of gaining self-confidence.

The people that you associate with can have an effect on your self esteem and your self esteem will not be helped by a pessimistic view that may be coming from others, which may also be causing you feelings of pessimism. Best thing to do, if possible would be to disassociate with those that bring you down.

Even the past can cause a lack of self-confidence. The past is just that, the past, nothing you can do can change it, so move away from thoughts of what was, and let it go.

“You have brains in our head. You have feet in our shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose.  You are on your own.  And you know what you know.  You are the one who’ll decide where to go” Dr. Seuss

5 Ways to build self- confidence

1.  What are your desires? (Valor Roll On essential oil blend)

  • Join in somewhere that works towards your desires.
  • Do you yearn to have confidence to speak in front of people? Toastmasters is an excellent organization to get involved with to help with this.
  • Would you like to get on stage to act, dance or sing?  Join a theater class, take dance class or voice lessons.
  • Have you thought how you would like to feel safer by knowing ways to protect yourself? Seek out martial arts.

These are just a few ways  that will help to push your comfort zone. It may be terrifying the first time, but it gets easier each time you step out of your boundaries, and it could be something you end up loving to do.

2.  Compliment three strangers each day. (Joy essential oil blend)

  • Say something nice to three people every day. This is not the same as commenting on the weather. You will need to take a moment to see something in this person to compliment.  This will make their day brighter and help them to feel better, and it will help you to feel more comfortable and confident speaking to others.

3.  Volunteer (Gratitude essential oil blend)

  • There are many ways to volunteer, and by doing this you are helping others that need our help.  When you help others, take the time to listen to their story, the possible regrets and the “if only I would have…..”  This puts a different perspective on your own life.  You can volunteer at elderly care centers, shelters, cancer clinics, the list is huge.  You can touch hearts and they can touch yours.  Please read this article… “Why Not Help Out On a Regular Basis”, where I have a list of many different ways to help out.

4.  Begin to change what makes you unhappy about yourself. (Acceptance essential oil blend)

  • Write down ten positive things about yourself. Concentrate on your strengths.  We all are born differently and have unique qualities and characteristics.  Change what you do not like about yourself. Remember, you are somebody special and confidence comes from within.

5.  Take time to relax (Stress Away Roll On essential oil blend)

  • Take the time to relax in a quiet room.
  • Sit comfortably with your feet flat on the floor and rest your hands on your legs.
  • Close your eyes
  • Breath in slowly through your nose and silently count to six, or whatever feels right for you.  Pause for a count of two or three and then exhale.
  • Exhale for as long as was the inhalation.
  • Let your mind be quiet. If thoughts come, gently push them away.
  • Do this for several minutes.  How do you feel?

As you may have noticed, with each suggestion I have in parentheses different essential oil blends. These are some of Young Living essential oils that may help you in achieving each step to your fullest, and to help you to connect more with yourself, and to help boost your self confidence.

I have gone into more detail on the use and benefits of these therapeutic grade essential oils in my next article:  “Self Confidence and Essential Oils”. Please refer to this article for details of how to use the above mentioned essential oils to help you on your journey of discovering your true self, your self-confidence and gaining a more positive outlook on life and within yourself.

I look forward to hearing from you and pray that you find what you need in life to transform and reach your dreams, your passion, your purpose.  May you find the courage to take the steps that will help you in reaching these attainable goals and in feeling the strength within yourself of self-confidence.

Have you ever thought how the mind and stress work together, and how stress can affect our overall well being? When our stress level is elevated, this may lead to many health issues, one in particular being inflammation, which in itself is the cause of a multitude of illnesses.  If we pay attention to the ‘warning signs’, we may be able to solve a health problem before it happens.

The cause of stress is something that is not easy to control and the outcome due to the stress can be very unpleasant to deal with. Sometimes when we are stressed, it is difficult to get away from the feelings it can cause.  For many they take a prescription drug and we all know that drugs have many side effects.  So why not take a minute to try to access the situation, figure out why you are feeling the way you are, and fix it with a natural substance from the earth, rather then a man made synthetic drug.

A few warning signs:

  • Anxious–Feeling of mental distress, worry about daily life, uneasiness, or fear
  • Anger–Feel displeasure, belligerence or impatience towards others
  • Unable to cope–Difficulty dealing with problems or responsibilities
  • Overwhelmed–A frantic feeling, running in circles trying to accomplish too many things at once and hardly getting anything done, a feeling of great burden.

These are all feelings that can be harmful not only to ourselves, but also to those around us.  Our stress, can stress them out too.

So what can we do?  First and foremost is to recognize when we are feeling stressed, in whatever form it is affecting us.  This is where a healthier mind comes in.  To deal with stress we must help our mind to combat the stressful state we are in.

There are many techniques and ways that may help.  The first would be to take a deep breath.  The next is an excellent, very beneficial and therapeutic way that may calm you down, and I have found it to help me greatly; and that is Stress Away Roll On.

Stress Away Roll On is a roll on I always have with me not only for myself, but for others just in case they are experiencing a bad day. It is so easy to use and convenient, because of its portable and easy to use application. Just take the cap off and rub the roll on generously to your wrists, temples, neck, or any desired area as needed.

The roll-on applicator has a metal ball that glides the oils onto your skin so softly. The smell is so lovely, I just wish you could smell Stress Away through this article and experience the divine scents of Copaiba, Lime, Cedarwood, Vanilla, Ocotea, and Lavender, in this therapeutic-grade essential oil blend.

I like to start my day with Stress Away Roll On not only to help my mind start out the day in a more healthy, calmed way, but also because of its sweat, woody scent, I love to wear it as my perfume. It’s unique blend of Young Living therapeutic grade essential oils relieves daily stress, encourages relaxation, and reduces nervous tension.*

I also apply the roll on to the bottoms of my feet for added benefits.  When essential oils are applied to the bottoms of the feet the benefits of essential oils are delivered throughout the body.  The benefits of therapeutic essential oils provide positive effects on all levels of the physical body, spiritual body, and the soul through their healing properties, through the skin.  These healing feelings can be felt within just a few minutes.

There are so many ways that may help to benefit you with a healthier mind, body and soul by adapting a lifestyle change and incorporating Young Living therapeutic grade essential oil therapy into your life. I know that my life is enhanced for the better, and I am less stressed and more joyful because of Young Living essential oils.  You too can get these benefits by ordering your natural Stress Away Roll On, by clicking:

In preparing for this article, I was not too surprised to see that in the past month over 12,000 people searched  the Internet for answers regarding anxiety, and that was just through one search engine alone! I was told by web “guru’s” that you can safely multiply one major search engines results by four and figure that’s a more accurate estimate of how many people actually do searches for help on a topic. So, in this regard we can assume 48,000 searched the Internet for anxiety answers over the month.  That is allot of anxious people!

In times past, I was one of these anxious people myself. Yesterday, I realized it has been 8 months and counting since my last panic attack (my family and I were stuck on an interstate during a severe thunder/rainstorm/tornado warning last May-that is just cause for a panic attack, right?). Also, I can proclaim that it has been over a year since I suffered from anxiety attacks that had weekly racked my body, mind, and spirit.

My ‘frank’ secret?

There is no question about it, I do not suffer like I used to since I started using Young Living oils regularly and religiously. My oil of choice for “high wiredness” prevention is frankincense. It is my favorite simply because I love the scent and it is one of the scents recorded in Scripture to have been brought to baby Jesus.

I have been wondering if the three wise men brought Frankincense as a gift to baby Jesus for as much Mary’s benefit as Jesus’, because I know the frankincense helps me be a better mommy!  And I have the kind of children that you leave for 60 seconds and come back to find they’ve done a “dance of the grapes” with potato chips on my freshly vacuumed living room carpet! I.E. they are not exactly wall flowers if you know what I mean!

True, pure frankincense essential oil is expensive. As Dr. David Stewart says in The Chemistry of Essential Oils Made Easy;

“However, when you see a bottle of fluid labeled as “frankincense” for $10-$20 for a full ounce, you can be sure it has been diluted because you can’t gather the resins from the Arabian and Somalian deserts, transport them to France or England to be distilled, and then import them to North America (or any other country) for that  price and maintain quality and purity.”

On the bright side, a 15 ml bottle of Young Living’s essential oil has approximately 250 drops in it, and if you use 1/2 a drop a day, as I do, that will last you over a year. To me, that is a small price to pay for the value the oil brings to our lives!

How To Use

I usually put one half of a drop of Young Living Frankincense on my terracotta necklace pendant first thing in the morning. About a week after I started doing this routine, I noticed I was a more centered, and a more ‘able to cope with whatever’ person throughout the day.

Some other, less expensive oils that I have used for the same purpose which help me instantly and upon application are Young Living’s

  • Peace and Calming Blend
  • Release Blend
  • lavender

It doesn’t really matter which one I use, they all do the same thing for me; they calm and relax, and suddenly I feel like I can handle the “25 things to do at the same time” mommy syndrome without even being tempted to melt down like before! Therapeutic grade oils from Young Living really work!
