Grief and sorrow come to all of us at sometime in our lives.  They are not times we care to experience or to wish upon others, but it is inevitable that we will experience awful times of sorrow and grief. To be able to get through these powerful feelings and emotions can be very difficult and even more difficult for others.

5 Ways to deal with grief or sorrow:

  1. Talk to family or friends. Reach out to them, by calling them. It can be difficult to pick up the phone, but it is important for you to be able to have someone to talk to.  If you don’t have someone, call a church or a hospital to find out about support groups.  Yes, it is easier to be alone, and that is OK, but not all of the time.  We do need someone to talk with, or to listen to.
  2. Read self help books or inspirational books that relate to what you are going through. Or listen to them on tape, if you are having a hard time focusing. Listening to the words can be a great help too.  Sometimes this can be a much easier way to take in the helpful words.  We may be able to comprehend better than when we read, because when we are in a deep place of grief it can be difficult to focus on words.
  3. Getting out in nature, going for walks, or even for drives to pretty places, can help us to reflect on the beauty around us and remind us of other blessings in our lives. Remember if you are able to go for walks to breath in the fresh air.  Fresh air is invigorating, intoxicating and down right good for our body and well being.
  4. Aromatherapy is natural way of achieving optimal emotional and physical health. The fragrance of an essential oil can directly affect everything from your emotional state to your lifespan. Thus, a therapeutic essential oil can affect our feelings and thoughts because smell is our most emotional sense. Scent stimulates nerves to fire in the emotional center of the brain, but it also stimulates the master gland to release hormones. Hormones affect the fight/flight response, as well as digestion and heart rate. In this way, essential oils can affect us in many ways all at once, just through their fragrance.  Aromatherapy is a very positive way that may help to heal from emotional pain.*
  5. Raindrop Technique utilizing emotional Young Living therapeutic-grade essential oils, could also be an excellent way to move to healing from grief and sorrow.  Raindrop Technique is a simple practice that can be learned and may be very beneficial for emotional healing and physical healing. (Read my article on Raindrop Technique for Mind, Body and Soul)*

Many air fresheners that are purchased in stores are most likely loaded with chemicals and toxins.  Air fresheners that are purchase from stores are used in homes and offices, and what people are being led to believe is that they create a clean, healthy, and pleasant smelling environment.  This is NOT the case.

One chemical in particular that is in most air fresheners is phthalates.  What people need to realize is that when the phthalates are released into the air and inhaled, or land on the skin and absorbed, the chemicals enter the bloodstream, they can alter hormone levels and cause other health problems.  This is especially a concern for children and women who are pregnant.

Phthalates are used in many common consumer products—to soften plastics in children’s toys, as sealants and adhesives in nail polish, in perfumes, and of course in air fresheners.

“Phthalates are known to interfere with production of the male hormone, testosterone, and have been associated with reproductive abnormalities. Numerous animal studies have linked prenatal exposure to certain phthalates with decreases in testosterone, malformations of the genitalia, and reduced sperm production. The State of California notes that five types of phthalates—including one that we found in air freshener products—are “known to cause birth defects or reproductive harm.” Phthalate exposure in indoor environments has also been associated with allergic symptoms and asthma.” Natural Resources Defense Council

What options do we have to achieve a safer, healthier environment, and to have fresher, cleaner air in our homes and offices and to feel assured of being free of harmful and hazardous chemicals?

One sure way to have a fresher environment is to be able to open windows and have a fan going to circulate the air.  However certain times of the year it is not feasible to open windows and if you are the city, the air isn’t the greatest, or if you are in an office, you may not have the luxury of being able to open a window.

If you are unable to open your windows, the next best thing is to diffuse Young Living therapeutic-grade essential oils.  Not only do you get a natural safe, fresh scent, but you get the added benefit of the therapeutic value from the essential oil, and a “green” product.

In regard to what essential oil to use, there are many choices.  Young Living has over 150 different single and blend essential oils. It all depends on what you are desiring for the scent, the ambiance, a clean fresh scent, or even protection from germs.

Diffused therapeutic-grade essential oils alter the structure of molecules that create odors, rather than simply masking them. They also increase oxygen availability and produce negative ions.

A few oils that are nice for any of these choices would be:

  1. Peace and Calming is a gentle, fragrant blend. When diffused, it helps calm tensions and uplift the spirit, promoting relaxation and a deep sense of peace. When massaged on the bottoms of the feet, it can be a wonderful prelude to a peaceful night’s rest. Peace & Calming may be especially calming and comforting to young children after an overactive and stressful day.*
  2. Lemon has a strong, purifying, citrus scent that is revitalizing and uplifting. Lemon consists of 68 percent dlimonene, a powerful antioxidant.*
  3. Thieves was created based on research about four thieves in France who covered themselves with cloves, rosemary, and other aromatics while robbing plague victims. This proprietary essential oil blend was university tested for its cleansing abilities. It is highly effective in supporting the immune system and good health.*

If you are looking for a natural safe alternative to freshen the air in your home, office, or even in your car, and to aide in a healthier environment for your family, friends, co-workers and even your pets, Young Living essential oils are the best way to go.

Young Living essential oils are top quality. (Read more on quality). You also get the added benefit of having your products delivered right to your door.

Are you ready to throw away all those nasty air fresheners that are harmful?  Please  contact me with questions you may have.  I would be happy to help you in choosing the essential oils to get you started and I look forward to hearing from you.

What makes little sense to me is the fact that over 30 years ago it was proven that rates of cavities began going down around the world, even in countries that did not have fluoridated water, fluoride toothpaste, or fluoride tablets; yet fluoride was and still is touted as being the only way to prevent cavities. There is no accurate evidence that fluoride makes any difference to oral health.[1]

The chart below from the World Health Organization clearly shows the trends of oral health getting better since the 1960s in populations around the world who did not have fluoridated water and dental products. The question arises, why then do we continue to use an extremely deadly substance in our water and oral care products?

Typical toothpaste warning printed on the label/box:

“Keep out of reach of children under 6 years of age. If you accidentally swallow more than used for brushing, seek professional help or contact a poison control center immediately.”

Typical mouthwash caution printed on the label:

“In case of accidental ingestion, seek professional assistance or contact a poison control center immediately. Do not use in children under six years of age. Supervise children over six.”

These warnings ARE on every brand of toothpaste and mouthwash I have seen!

When a warning is on a product it does mean it is and can be fatal.

Anita Shattuck states in Fluoridation: The Fraud of the Century

“Fluoridation is not about “children’s teeth,” it is about industry getting rid of its hazardous waste at a profit, instead of having to pay a fortune to dispose of it. [the industry she is referring to is the aluminum and phosphate fertilizer industries]

Only calcium fluoride occurs naturally in water; however, that type of fluoride has never been used for fluoridation. Instead what is used over 90 percent of the time are silicofluorides, which are 85 times more toxic than calcium fluoride…”

Shattuck continues…

“The largest study of tooth decay in America (by the National Institute of Dental Research in 1987) proved that there was no significant difference in the decay rates of 39,000 fluoridated, partially fluoridated and non-fluoridated children, ages 5 to 17, surveyed in 84 cities. The media has never disclosed these facts. The study cost us, the taxpayers, $3,670,000. Surely, we are entitled to hear the results.[2]

Newburgh and Kingston, both in the state of New York, were two of the original fluoridation test cities. A recent study by the New York State Department of Health showed that after 50 years of fluoridation, Newburgh’s children have a slightly higher number of cavities than never-fluoridated Kingston.[2]

The recent California fluoridation study, sponsored by the Dental Health Foundation, showed that California has only about one quarter as much water fluoridation as the nation as a whole, yet 15-year-old California children have less tooth decay than the national average.[3]“

Since there is no accurate evidence at all that proves fluoride is beneficial and only huge amounts of evidence showing that fluoride is extremely unhealthy it makes me wonder… why exactly are we still allowing these people to convince us that fluoride is even remotely beneficial???

One tube of ordinary toothpaste can literally kill two children if ingested. One tube can kill an adult if ingested. This is serious stuff!

The ingredients highlighted in “red” are the ingredients that would be responsible for fatalities. The other ingredients would be a slower accumulation of poisons becoming lodged in tissues, organs and fat cells.

Visit the EWG (Environmental Working Group) website, type in any of the above ingredients or ingredients in personal care products you have at home right now to find out just how toxic the products are – this is a very cool and useful database!

Researchers in the US found that the chlorine added to water in Britain reacted with triclosan to produce chloroform-gas. They found that it was possible for the chloroform produced when soap containing the chemical mixes with chlorinated water to be absorbed through the skin or inhaled. Read more

Dollar store toothpastes may contain up to 10 times the fluoride – an extreme health hazard!

It only makes sense to not use toxic dental care products, especially when it comes to our health and our kids health.

Young Living has KidScents Toothpaste which has no poisons or chemicals – yes, it is edible and also has the benefits of our fabulous essential oils!

Young Living also has 3 different toothpastes for adults (and perfectly suitable for kids, some kids prefer the adult toothpaste better) the Thieves Ultra Toothpaste I think is the best – all of which have the amazing benefits of our Thieves essential oil and all are free of poisons and chemicals too – yes, it’s edible!

My Testimonial

This is the ONLY toothpaste and mouthwash (Thieves) that I have ever used that actually made any difference, and the difference has been amazing!!! I have saved a fortune on dental cleanings by simply using the Thieves Ultra Toothpaste. The therapeutic-grade essential oils in the Thieves essential oil blend (which are added to this toothpaste and mouthwash) actually kill the s. mutans bacteria in our mouths that cause plaque and tartar. This is how all toothpastes and mouthwashes ’should’ work!  After using this pair, I will never even consider going back and using inferior dental care products again! ~ Evelyn Vincent

Dyeing eggs with natural substances doesn’t take much more time than if you used commercial coloring kits – and it’s alot more fun! You can be very creative with what is in your kitchen already and your Easter eggs can come out very unique. I’ve also included how to blow eggs for those who are very creative and would like to make all-natural dyed Easter eggs as a gift.

Getting Natural Colors from Safe Sources

These natural dyes are either a spice, fruit, or vegetable that will color your Easter eggs in a very safe way. Terrific for kids, pregnant moms, and those living a natural lifestyle.

Lavender

  • 1 cup grape juice and 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • Violet Blossoms plus 2 tsp Lemon Juice
  • Red Zinger Tea (Celestial Seasonings)
  • Soak eggs in turmeric dye for 30 minutes, then red cabbage dye for 30 minutes.

Violet Blue

  • Violet Blossoms (these are an edible flower, not all flowers can be eaten)
  • Small Quantity of Red Onions Skins (boiled)
  • Hibiscus Tea
  • Red Wine

Blue

  • Canned Blueberries
  • Red Cabbage Leaves (boiled)
  • Purple Grape Juice
  • Red Cabbage (4 cups chopped and boiled)
  • Light blue: Soak eggs in red cabbage dye for 30 minutes.
  • Royal blue: Soak eggs in red cabbage dye overnight.

Bluish-Gray

  • Mix 1 cup frozen blueberries with 1 cup water. Bring to room temperature. Remove blueberries.

Green

  • Spinach Leaves (boiled)
  • Liquid Chlorophyll

Greenish Yellow

  • Yellow Delicious Apple Peels (boiled)
  • Carrot tops and peels from Yellow Delicious apples produce a yellow-green.

Chartreuse

  • Soak eggs in turmeric dye for 30 minutes, then beet dye for 5 seconds.

Yellow

  • Remove the peel from 1 orange. Add peel to 4 cups boiling water. Stir in 2 tablespoons vinegar. Let cool to room temperature. Remove orange peel.
  • Saffron makes a bright yellow when eggs are soaked overnight. Use about 1/4 teaspoon saffron threads for four eggs.
  • Carrot Tops (boiled)
  • Celery Seed (boiled)
  • Ground Cumin (boiled)
  • Ground Turmeric (boiled)
  • Chamomile Tea (boiled)
  • Green Tea

Golden Brown

  • Dill Seeds

Mahogany Brown

  • Red beet skins make a beautiful mahogany brown. Roast fresh beets at 350 degrees in oven until soft (about one to two hours, depending on size). Peel off the skin and about 1/8″ of the beet. Reserve beets for eating (they are delicious roasted!) and add the skins to the dye pot. Use about one egg-size beet per egg. Allow to soak overnight. Grape juice produces a beautiful sparkling tan. You could try using coffee dye instead of Grape juice.

Brown

  • Strong Coffee
  • Instant Coffee
  • Black Walnut Shells (boiled)
  • Black Tea

Orange

  • Yellow Onion Skins (boiled) 4 cups (skins of about 12 onions)
  • Cooked Shredded Carrots
  • Chili Powder
  • Paprika

Salmon

  • Soak eggs in turmeric dye for 30 minutes, then beet dye for 30 minutes.

Pink

  • Beets
  • Cranberries or Juice
  • Raspberries
  • Red Grape Juice
  • Juice from Pickled Beets

Dark Pink

  • Cut 1 medium beet into chunks. Add beet to 4 cups boiling water. Stir in 2 tablespoons vinegar. Let cool to room temperature. Remove beets.
  • Lots of red onion skins, cranberry juice, or frozen raspberries.

Red

  • Lots of Red Onions Skins (boiled)
  • Canned Cherries with Juice
  • Pomegranate Juice
  • Raspberries
  • 3 cans of beets in cranberry juice (instead of water) – produce a dark reddish hue

Dyeing Directions Using the ‘Hot’ Method

  1. Place the eggs in a single layer in a non-aluminum pan. Add water until the eggs are covered.
  2. Add 2 TBLS of white vinegar per quart of water to help the color adhere to the eggs.
  3. Add the natural dye. Use more dye material for more eggs or for a more intense color, most spices produce a rich color when 3 TBLS of the powdered spice is used.
  4. Bring water to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Note: longer cooking will make eggs tough.
  6. If you are pleased with the color, remove the eggs from the liquid.
  7. For more intensely colored eggs, temporarily remove the eggs from the liquid. Strain the dye through a coffee filter (unless you want speckled eggs). Cover the eggs with the filtered dye and let them remain in the refrigerator overnight.
  8. Naturally-colored eggs will not be glossy, but if you want a shiny appearance you can rub a bit of cooking oil onto the eggs once they are dry.

Dyeing Directions Using the ‘Cold’ Method

  1. The cold method is the same as the hot method with the following exception…
  2. Once ingredients have simmered 20–30 minutes (depending on desired shade).
  3. Lift or strain the ingredients out of the water and allow the water to cool to room temperature. Optional: you may wish to leave the ingredients in the colored water to give the egg more texture as the dye will become concentrated in areas where the vegetable touches the egg.
  4. Submerge the eggs until the desired color is achieved. You may keep the eggs in the solution overnight as long as it is refrigerated.
  5. The longer the egg stays in the dye, hot or cold, the deeper the hue will be. Using vinegar will also help the color deepen.

Decorative Designs for Your Easter Eggs

  • Shapes, Words, or Pictures: use a wax crayon (or a piece of wax) to draw them on the egg shell before dyeing. Wax doesn’t absorb colors, and the designs will not be colored.
  • Tie-dyed Eggs: can be created by using rubber bands. Different sizes of rubber bands, wrapped around the eggs, can give a tie-died look. When the egg shell is the color you want, remove from the dye. When the color has dried, pull off the rubber bands.
  • Natural Paints: use fresh and frozen berries as paints to create a mottled coloring scheme. Simply crush the berries against dry boiled eggs.

Tips

  • It’s a lot faster to boil the dyes and eggs together, but you will use several pans if you want to make multiple colors. Dyeing the eggs after they have been cooked takes as many dishes and more time, but may be more practical.
  • Using canned produce produce paler shades.
  • Some natural dyes need to be boiled to impart their color (specified above).
  • Some fruits, vegetables, and spices can be used cold. To use a cold natural dye, cover the boiled eggs with water, add your chosen dyeing materials, about a teaspoon of vinegar, then let the eggs remain in the refrigerator until the desired color is achieved. In most cases, the longer you leave Easter eggs in the dye, the more deeply colored they will become.

Additional Tips for Successful Results

  • Use filtered or distilled water. Chlorine and other chemicals will work against the dye, making it less intense. Buy distilled water or use your own filtered water.
  • For deeper colors, use more dyestuff or let the eggs soak longer.
  • For even coverage, cook eggs in a pot large enough to hold enough water and dyestuff to completely cover the eggs, even after some of the liquid has evaporated during the 15 minute of boiling.
  • Again, for even coverage, if you continue to soak the eggs in the refrigerator after cooking, make sure the eggs are completely covered with the dye liquid.
  • Blot the eggs dry or allow them to air dry, as for some colors the dye will rub off while still wet. On the other hand, if you wish to make a white pattern on the egg, you can rub off some of the dye for some colors immediately after cooking.
  • Make sure eggs of different colors are completely dry before piling them up in a bowl together, as wet dye from one egg can transfer to another.

How to Blow Out Eggs

  1. Wash eggs.
  2. Using a sewing needle, gently prick a small hole into each of the egg’s two ends. Poke a hole in the yolk (use a thin skewer if necessary).
  3. Leaning over a bowl, gently blow into the top hole, expelling the yolk and white out the bottom end, into the bowl.
  4. Lay hollow eggs on paper towels to dry.
  5. Paint or dye the shells or decorate as desired.

Egg Safety

  • The American Egg Board advises that you discard hard-cooked eggs that have been out of the fridge for more than two hours.
  • Refrigerate hard-cooked eggs whenever you’re not working with them. Put eggs in their cartons if you won’t be decorating them right after cooking. Refrigerate them again right after dyeing or decorating them.
  • Make sure the eggs you color aren’t cracked. If any cracks appear during dyeing or decorating, throw them away.
  • Never use any kind of dye, from natural sources or other, that are not edible!
  • If you are using crayons, paints, or other art materials, be sure they are labeled nontoxic.
  • To prevent discolored rings from forming on hard-boiled eggs, put them in a pan, add water to cover by 1 inch and bring just to a boil. Remove from heat, cover and let stand 15 to 18 minutes, then chill in cold water.

Chemicals are not what you think about when you are applying lotion, or putting on make up, or for men shaving cream, but that is most likely what you are putting on your body when you are using these products. These chemicals are some of the free radicals our bodies are fighting to overcome everyday, all day long.

A recent study in the United Kingdom found that the average woman wears over 500 chemicals on her body every day. Similar to the United States, women douse themselves daily with shampoo, conditioner, perfume, moisturizer, lotion, and a wide variety of cosmetics that altogether contain hundreds of chemicals. Most are unaware of the number of chemicals they are putting on. Do you know how many you wear?

If you are curious, take a moment to figure it out. Look at the labels of all of the products you use and count how many ingredients are listed. Then, add them all together.

  2. Lotions and moisturizers  ________________________
  3. Cosmetics ___________________________________
  4. Hair styling products ___________________________
  5. Deodorant __________________________________
  6. Perfume or cologne ____________________________

Total ___________________________________________

Are you surprised? Most people are.

Keep in mind that not all of the chemicals in personal care products are bad, but there are a significant amount of commonly used ingredients that are especially risky to your health.

Avoid products that contain: “parabens” (Methyl-, ethyl-, propyl- and butyl-parabens) , coal tar colors (FD&C Blue 1, Green 3, Yellow 5 & 6; D&C Red 33), Diethanolamine (cocamide DEA, TEA and MEA are related ingredients that can be contaminated with DEA), Nonoxynol or nonylphenol ethoxylate, phthalates (can be listed as DEHP, DHP, or DBP5 or hidden in “fragrance”) , DMDM hydantoin, triclosan, sodium lauryl and laureth sulfates, toluene, formaldehyde, PEGs, and anything with “glycol” or “methyl.”

It’s hard to eliminate everything on this list, especially if you can’t afford all the certified organic products. Young Living Essential Oils has all the natural products you need to replace the chemical laden products.  Young Living Essential Oils give protection and the essences of nature, without the use of chemicals.

Most people are not able to immediately replace what may be in their cupboards.  The best way to begin replacing your chemical induced products is by purchasing a certain amount every month and then replenishing your supply as needed.

What you need to do is decide if it is your time to make this very important change in your life.  Many people are sure to stay away from certain ingredients in food products, well why not help your body, mind and spirit out by doing the same with your personal care products.  Its a choice, are you ready to begin to make the switch to help to achieve optimal health?

Aroma Siez Testimonials

Discomfort in Deep Muscles

“Every fall when the weather is hot, then cold, then hot, then cold here in Florida, I get chest pains that my doctor has characterized as Charlie horses in the deep muscles of my chest. Unlike a leg or foot muscle, you can’t massage these or walk to stretch them, so there was nothing to do but “endure” these annoying episodes, which sometimes lasted for two hours. One night I woke up with this chest pain, and as I lay there thinking about what I could do for it, I remembered the instant results I had had with Aroma Siez on other people’s leg cramps. So I got up and rubbed a few drops of Aroma Siez on my chest, and the pain went away in about 10 minutes!” ~ Jan E.

Aroma Siez After Strenous Activity

“We use Aroma Siez after our Tai Chi classes or a long day of gardening. Smells spicy. Works wonderfully.” ~ Cynthe B.

Aroma Siez and Muscle Spasm

“After moving a heavy bureau, I had muscle cramps along the left side of my body. The cramps were so severe, I almost went for a series of trigger point injections. Instead, I had a friend apply a drop each of helichrysum essential oil and Aroma Siez oil blend on the most tender point of the muscle and press hard, wiggling the finger just a little. In each trigger point, this process released the spasm. I repeated this procedure on a friend who had an uncomfortable charlie horse on his leg, and the discomfort stopped immediately. He was truly surprised because he had muscle spasms in his leg for years, and nothing had ever worked before.” ~ Sharon T.

Aroma Siez for Tight Muscles

“I have also recently had some experiences with cramping of the toes and feet (VERY uncomfortable), and I used Aroma Siez, since it is for seized up muscles. It worked beautifully, within a couple of minutes.” ~ Joy

Aroma Siez and Foot Cramps

“Another manifestation of my current body imbalance was waking up in the middle of the night with foot cramps…big OUCH! Thank goodness I had my trusty Aroma Siez (for those seized-up muscles) handy. I just applied a couple of drops neat on top of the feet, and on the bottom, and again, the cramping stopped as if by magic. I am so grateful that I now have built my “stash” of oils to have them all. I remember well when I was just beginning in the business, and my upline (who just came into the business a week or so before me) and I used to discuss which oils we would order first, in our desire to build an inventory, and how we felt it would be quite a while before we could order the kits.

It’s interesting to look back on that time, and I’m so grateful I stayed with it. Over time, Young Living has brought many blessings…not only the wonderful effective healing, but the abundance to now order whatever I choose without concern. The choice to join Young Living certainly turned out to be one of my better decisions in this lifetime!” ~ Anonymous

Aroma Siez for Charlie Horse

“From time to time I get charlie horses and when I apply the Aroma Siez on the knot and massage it in the muscle will relax and the knot goes away. ( Another thing you need to remember is when you get a lot of charlie horses you are not drinking enough water). Also I use the Aroma Siez when I do massage to relieve the tight muscles in the back.” ~  Nancy S.

What Doug did for disk problem

“My experience with essential oils started like most people, with a physical condition and pain. I began having severe neck pain which progressed down my left shoulder and ultimately to my left elbow. At first, I just lived with it, but then I started to experience weakness in my left tricep, and that’s when I decided to contact a doctor and see what was wrong.

An MRI showed the disk between the C-6 and C-7 vertebrae to be bulging. The swelling in the joint was putting pressure on the nerve which was causing the pain and the weakness in my arm. In fact, the tricep muscle was actually beginning to atrophy.

My doctor gave me 3 options, first, physical therapy sessions. I did that with little effect. Second, an epidural in my neck, which is an injection of anti-inflammatory drugs directly into the disk designed to reduce the swelling and help the disk move back in place. The third option was surgery, where they would fuse the two vertebrae together.

I was in my early 30’s and very active in sports and skiing and did not want options 2 or 3! That’s when a friend told me about the oils and how they had helped him with a similar problem with his back.  Long story short, I tried them, and it was nothing short of a miracle!  Within minutes my neck and shoulder felt better, and by the next morning, I had no more pain! ZERO!

My neck and arm have been fine since, nearly 10 years now, and I regularly use the oils as simple maintenance and for many other reasons that are too numerous to list here. Many people have asked me which oils were used on my back and neck, so here is a list of the oils and how they were applied by Julie Herbert – whose husband, Gordon, first introduced me to these amazing medicines.

Start with Valor on the feet. Then layer oils of Basil, Marjoram, Aroma Siez, Wintergreen, PanAway, Cypress, LEMONGRASS, Geranium, and Peppermint on the VitaFlex points on the feet, one after another. (There is a foot chart in the book, Essential Oils Desk Reference, which shows where points related to the spine, shoulders and neck are located on the feet called VitaFlex points).

Then apply the same oils on the neck and shoulder or pain-affected area using Peppermint last, followed by Ortho Ease. Peppermint is used last because it is the amplifier of the other oils followed by Ortho Ease. Today, for someone with the same condition, you would also use Idaho Balsam Fir, and then start taking the supplements BLM (for bone, muscle, and ligaments) and Sulfurzyme.

BLM and Sulfurzyme were not available when I had my neck problem. I am a true believer in the power of these oils to heal the body, mind, and spirit. I hope you will experience the same kind of results as you use these wonderful products. I can’t put into words how grateful I am to have discovered essential oils.” ~ Doug L.

More Tips from the Mommy Trenches!

  1. 2 Extra Changes of Clothes for baby-(this may be a given, but here’s one that is not…
  2. An extra change of clothes for you! That’s right! Throw-up, leaky diapers, spills, you name it-it can and will happen! After only two children, I can tell you there will be a point in time when you will be very, very glad you have an extra change of clothes for yourself with you.
  3. A diaper pad. These are a good idea since God knows what could be on public changing tables! And, they will especially come in handy for the many public places that for some strange reason do not have changing tables (you only notice this absurd fact after you become a parent)!
  4. Hand sanitizer. We have all heard how dangerous the regular kinds can be, and how they are especially poisonous for children who lick their fingers. Since babies have a tendency to “chew and suck” on mama’s fingers as well as their own, I don’t use the regular kinds. I like to use Thieves, all natural, non-toxic, chemical free hand sanitizer (available here). It is really nice having this safe alternative available, especially considering that most babies majority of time is spent on the floor (which is fine in my home but not so much so at someone else’s!
  5. Thieves Disinfectant Spray. All natural, non-toxic, and safe for you and baby (available here). Great to use in places like bathrooms, and in places the  wipes are hard to use. This is also great for deodorizing. (Read this article for reasons why you shouldn’t use regular disinfectant sprays around your children).
  6. Empty plastic bags. You will need these for icky diapers and clothes that are soiled from the icky diapers!
  7. Spit- up cloths. This way, you will maybe be able to limit how many times you will need that extra change of clothes for yourself!
  8. Extra pacifiers, teether’s and toys. I am positive babies like to deliberately drop their pacifiers and toys onto the floors just to see how many times us mom’s will pick them up! Germ infested, filthy public floors mean nothing to baby, but they will assure you won’t be giving the toy’s back to the wee one, so substitutes are important (you may want to look for those ring links while out and about too)!
  9. 2 Bibs. Whether you are eating out, or just fed your baby, having a bib on them will perhaps save you from having to change their clothes as many times as you otherwise would have.
  10. Teething tablets/gel. I cannot count the number of times my little ones were teething, and having these in the diaper bag saved the day! I refuse to use regular kinds with drugs in them because of the possible side effects (including death). I LOVE Boiron-Camilia Teething Drops though, they are homeopathic and really seem to work wonders! Hyland’s teething tablets and gel are also good.
  11. In addition to diaper wipes, cleaning wipes are a very smart must have. You can use them for wiping off toys your little one dropped onto the floor, and for shopping carts and restaurant high chairs. Did you know you can make your own wipes? Click here for directions on how and reasons why you should make your own!
  12. DI-Gize Essential Oil*. This could be your greatest investment for your little one’s comfort and your sanity-especially out in public should your little one come down with a screaming belly ache!  Since you don’t use much, one bottle get you through however many babies you plan to have and then some! Simply dilute one drop in a teaspoon of olive oil and rub it onto the baby’s tummy. (This tip comes from Gentle Babies: Essential Oils and Natural Remedies for Pregnancy, Childbirth and Infant Care’ by Debra Raybern, N.D., M.H., C.N.C, I.C.A.).

Bizarre “Sea Serpent” Captured on Video: in a world first, marine scientists working in the Gulf of Mexico filmed a Giant Oarfish in the wild written by Craig Weatherby, writer at Vital Choice Seafood

A team of researchers recently caught a rare, frightening, but oddly beautiful fish on video … for the first time (view it below). The Giant Oarfish captured on film was estimated to measure a jaw-dropping 16 to 32 feet in length.

The men in the photo at right are holding a dead Oarfish … one that may only be half the size of the one filmed in the Gulf, and just a third of the documented maximum. The biggest members of this bizarre species may be the biggest bony fish in the world. (Sharks have cartilage, not bone.)

It’s likely that some of the “sea serpent” sightings by sailors over the centuries stem from the size, dragon-like dorsal fin, bright red streamers, and sinuous, snake-like motions of the Giant Oarfish (Regalecus glesne).

Oarfish sightings and landings are infrequent, but happen regularly around the world … usually when one was dead or dying, at the surface or washed onshore.

How the “catch” happened

The video (above) was shot in the Gulf of Mexico by scientists from Louisiana State University and the UK’s National Oceanography Centre.

They were based on the world’s largest oil rig, called ThunderHorse, and using its remotely operated vehicle (ROV) when they saw the fish swimming – sometimes backwards – at a depth of more than 1,500 feet (457 meters).

Team leader Mark Benfield, Ph.D., offered this account:

“What was interesting about the fish was its swimming behavior. It moved by undulating its dorsal fin in waves that propelled it backwards at quite a good speed. The fish was really big … five to 10 meters [16 to 32 feet].”

How did we not know that the seas harbor a stunningly beautiful, scary-but-harmless “sea serpent”? Now that we do, we’re glad it exists!

Saving the ocean’s amazing creatures – many still undiscovered – is another good reason to keep greenhouse gasses, trash, and chemical pollution from killing the seas.

And saving the ocean and its food chain is essential to the health, welfare, and very survival of countless people.

What!? Are we now supposed to eat Giant Oarfish for good health???

No… [smiling] it’s just a fascinating news story I wanted to share. That’s something for our brains and hearts in another way.

The fish that are really good for are health (high in omega 3s) can be found at my favorite source for wild seafood, Vital Choice… and an essential oil enhanced supplement called Omega Blue (fact sheet) from Young Living Essential Oils.
