For those  who know how foods affect our whole life, including our thinking processes and behavior, find it easy to look at diet as a potential remedy to the rampant diagnosis of ADD and ADHD. Attention deficit disorder is not just a problem in children. If you were diagnosed with childhood ADD/ADHD, chances are, you’ve carried at least some of the symptoms into adulthood. But even if you were never diagnosed with ADD/ADHD as a child, that doesn’t mean you can’t be affected by it as an adult.

Attention deficit disorder often goes unrecognized throughout childhood. This was especially common in the past, when very few people were aware of ADD/ADHD. Instead or recognizing your symptoms and identifying the real issue, your family, teachers, or other parents may have labeled you a dreamer, a goof-off, a slacker, a troublemaker, or just a bad student.

Alternately, you may have been able to compensate for the symptoms of ADD/ADHD when you were young, only to run into problems as your responsibilities increase.

In the best-selling book by Rachel Bell and Dr. Howard Peiper, The A.D.D. and A.D.H.D. Diet provides a look at the contributing factors and natural treatments for symptoms of these diagnosis’.

Potential causes for ADD and ADHD:

  • poor nutrition
  • environmental contaminants
  • allergies to food and environment that affect the nervous system

  • increased and repeated use of antibiotics
  • spinal column misalignments and craniosacral system obstructions
  • electromagnetic stress from TV and technology

Since this book focuses on diet it encourages the reader to do a few things to see what foods might be causing the problem such as:

  • fast and then eat foods separately to notice effects
  • use a rotation diet
  • get tested for allergies
  • read about what other people did
  • practice proper food combining
  • see a doctor who specializes in natural care for ADD/ADHD

The symptoms – possibly including, but not limited to: short attention span, memory lapse, irritability, anxiety, poor motor control, withdrawn behavior, maldigestion, difficulty communicating, inability to focus, talking too loud and too fast, inability to follow directions, sit still or listen, learning difficulties.

Possible contributing factor: food allergies, chemical sensitivity, vitamin or mineral deficiencies, amino acid insufficiency, spinal misalignment, stress on the central nervous system and more.

  • Is there a connection between chemical fumes and learning ability?
  • Can maldigestion contribute to behavior problems?
  • What is commenly misdiagnosed as ADD or ADHD?
  • Can diet contribute to fatigue and depression?
  • What really is ADD/ADHD?
  • Is the problem hereditary?

“This important book, The A.D.D. and A.D.H.D. Diet, will provide the type of answers that are needed to make an informed choice for safer, better, easier and less expensive treatments for ADD and ADHD.” ~ Doris J. Rapp, M.D., Clinical Asst. Professor of Pediatrics SUNYAB, author of Is This Your Child’s World?

Dr. Benjamin Feingold, is a pioneer who popularized a special diet for kids with hyperactivity which was originally presented in ’Why Your Child is Hyperactive’, Dr. Feingold says that the child’s diet should prohibit synthetic or artificial food coloring, flavors, and preservatives.

Avoid These Foods

The diet should also prohibit any food containing natural salicylates, such as almonds, apples (cider and cider vinegar), apricots, all berries, cherries, cloves, coffee, cucumbers, pickles, currants, grapes, raisins, wine and wine vinegar, nectarines, wintergreen (methyl salicylate) essential oil, oranges, peaches, peppers, plums, prunes, tangerines, tea, tomatoes, potatoes, and eggplant.

The suggested diet changes is much like the Candida Diet, quite possibly because the eco-terrain in the gut has so much to do with our thinking and behavioral processes.

ADD / ADHD Testimonials

Diagnosed with early signs ADHD

“James is our 2-year-old son that has recently been diagnosed by professionals as having early signs of ADHD.  He is too young to be truly diagnosed yet as he is not in school and the diagnosis is usually made closer to six years of age. A family friend who works with children noticed his behavior was “abnormal.”  We had just assumed that he was a “busy” boy as he is our oldest child and so we had nothing to compare to.  This was just our “normal” life.  Later, we found out that some of his behaviors are typical of the ADHD diagnosis.  Some of those behaviors are constant inattention (even when playing with toys), being unfocused when given tasks, and constantly moving around with an inability to sit still.  These were just a few of the behaviors our friend noticed.  Through the process we learned this is a neurological disorder – not a behavioral or psychological disorder.

The “busyness” started causing a problem when it started affecting his sleep – or lack thereof. James found it hard to relax enough to fall asleep. His whole body would actually flop around on the bed – seeming to be uncomfortable and trying to find just the right position.  Then, when he did fall asleep it would not be for long.  He would wake up several times a night.  Most of the time he would be crying or upset for some reason.

We attended an OT evaluation in which the therapist agreed he did have some signs and symptoms of ADHD although 2-year-olds are busy – especially boys; this is the reason they don’t diagnose ADD or ADHD with children this young. She did give us some strategies on how to manage, especially at night. She suggested some things that we could physically do to help his body calm down. (All of her suggestions included helping with his sensory integration. Some of those measures were using weights around his waist or ankles, actually swaddling him in his blanket on the nights when he was inconsolable, and using squishy balls for him to squeeze when anxious.)  Those measures helped a bit but she warned us we would probably not see immediate results.

Then, we went for a visit to see my parents and my mother put me in contact with Nancy Sanderson. She is a wonderfully giving woman who shared with me the positive effects that Young Living Essential Oils have had for others with anxious children. I am fairly open-minded to the natural part of treatment rather than the medical so I was very interested although I knew my husband would be more skeptical. Needless, to say – I signed up that day and Nancy helped me place an order focusing on the specific oils that were shown to help anxious children (Peace and Calming, Vetiver, Lavender, and Brain Power essential oils).

Several days later I received my order and that evening after my son’s bath I put Vetiver on his temples, his feet, and his upper back. I made it a deep massage which would be relaxing to him anyway, with the added benefit of the oil.  That night I noticed an immediate difference.

Before going to bed, he played with his cars and trucks for about 45 minutes – very unusual. (Typically, he skips from toy to toy, activity to activity – almost frantically.) Then, when lying down to go to sleep he did not flip/flop like usual.  We were able to talk about the day and things of interest to him before he fell asleep.  He went to bed around 9:30 or 10:00 that night and slept until 9:00 the next morning – very unusual!  He slept in the exact same position he fell asleep in – so I know he didn’t toss and turn much during the night either.  The next morning he seemed much more rested and was quite happy.

Later that morning the child development professional came for her usual biweekly meeting with James.  She noticed a difference as well as he was able to focus on the tasks she wanted him to do and wasn’t just running wild around us. Keep in mind, he is still two … and a boy!  James is still our lovable, carefree, busy boy – just a different kind of busy.  He seems to be able to focus on things for longer periods of time and can actually sit for several stories or games.

The next day, I immediately ordered the diffuser so that I can diffuse oils in his bedroom at night, as well as putting the oils on him.  I must say that I am truly impressed with the oils so far and plan on continuing them into the future to help my son as well as our whole family.” – Rhonda S.

Essential Oils in Essendulum

“I have a couple of customers who find the most success with vetiver, peace & calming, roman chamomile, and peppermint.

One family bought an essendulum for their son.  He wears it to school (under his shirt) with his choice of oil in it.  When he feels the need, he simply holds it to his nose and inhales. The essendulum he has does have a cork in it, so the scent is not very obvious to others.  I think this is probably why no one has complained about it. When he wore oils on his skin to school, his teachers complained.

Both families also had great success by making major dietary changes. They eliminated food dyes, preservatives, artificial sweeteners, MSG, and most processed foods.  By turning to a more whole-foods diet, in conjunction with the oil use, they have been able to avoid medications.

One last suggestion: you might seek out a holistic physician in your area. I am very fortunate in that my kids’ pediatricians are certified in both traditional medicine and holistic medicine.  While I have not had to use it, I do know that they have a whole lifestyle protocol that they recommend for ADD and ADHD kids.  It includes limited tv time, lots of sunshine, dietary changes and more.  Medications are the absolute last resort that they offer to parents. I hope this helps.” ~ Melissa

Peace & Calming on Tissue

“My first experience with essential oils was when my son was overwhelmed with ADHD. While visiting a friend my son could not sit still. He stayed in one place on the sofa but kept bouncing up and down. My friend suggested trying Peace and Calming Oil. We started using the oil at night in a diffuser. He slept so much better and started his day more focused. We put drops of the oil on a tissue and he kept it in his pocket when he went to school. We continued to use the Peace and Calming at night for many years. This was the beginning of successfully overcoming his ADHD.” ~ Carolyn

Diffusing Lavender

“We have a 3 year old friend who comes for a weekly sleep over with our 4 year old. His mother has been told that he is borderline ADHD and borderline Autistic, he is very active with no attention span unless he gets intrigued. He is prone to getting up as many as 4 times a night and being up by 6am, rambunctious and ready for the day after a 9:30 bedtime. I started diffusing lavender in the bedroom before I put the boys to bed. Once they\’re tucked in I remove the diffuser. Now both sleep peacefully from 9:30pm til 7:30am without interruption and almost without exception!” ~ Victoria

Chemicals and toxins are a great and grave concern that must be addressed by everyone.  The air we breath, the water we drink, the food we eat, the personal care products and household products we use, the clothes we wear, the furniture we set on, the floors we walk on, all have chemicals.  This sounds very daunting, and the saddest and most maddening part about it is, more and more chemicals keep coming into existence and the lives of all generations are in terrible jeopardy.

On an average, women use twelve personal care products a day, which equates to 160 different chemicals being applied daily.  Toothpaste and deodorant are on this list, as are lotions, shampoos and makeup.

On an average men use about half of the personal care products of what women use.

What about our children? They do not have the choice of what to use. They are given what to use.  Unfortunately children are exposed to industrial pollutions even before they are born. Exposure begins in the womb.  Chemicals have many health effects.  Neurodevelopmental disorders are caused by chemicals and has caused a “Silent Pandemic”.

  • Acute Lympho Leukemia has risen 84% from 1975-2002.
  • Brain cancer has risen 57%.
  • Autism is found 1 in 150 children.
  • In the last year the amount of women unable to conceive has risen 20%.
  • One in eight women get breast cancer.

Kid-Safe Chemical Act

What can we do to fix this detrimental situation?  We can begin by making changes in our own lives.

  • Grow your own food.  If that is not feasible, buy from farmers markets or order online from reputable, caring, honest companies.
  • Filter your tap water. Get away from buying bottled water. Why? Can you really trust that it is chemical free?
  • Clean the air quality in your living environment and work place. How? Diffuse Young Living therapeutic-grade essential oils. Have clean, safe and healthy air to breath. (Read more on diffusing Young Living therapeutic-grade essential oils and the benefits.)
  • Replace personal care, nutritional products, cleaning and pet care products, with known products that are “green”,  pure and free of chemicals and toxins.  Don’t be scared about doing this, thinking about the cost, begin slowly. Start with cleaning products, next week or month, shampoos, next toothpaste and mouthwash.  Soon you will have safer products in your home and then you can replace them as needed.  (All of these needs are available through Young Living Essential oils)
  • Note: Not all essential oils are the same. Therapeutic-grade essential oils are steam distilled and wild crafted, their oils are carefully extracted by way of hot water and steam and they are free from any synthetic chemicals. Many labels use the words “For External Use Only,” which means that they might include chemicals other than pure oil. (Read more on quality of essential oils.)

Grief and sorrow come to all of us at sometime in our lives.  They are not times we care to experience or to wish upon others, but it is inevitable that we will experience awful times of sorrow and grief. To be able to get through these powerful feelings and emotions can be very difficult and even more difficult for others.

5 Ways to deal with grief or sorrow:

  1. Talk to family or friends. Reach out to them, by calling them. It can be difficult to pick up the phone, but it is important for you to be able to have someone to talk to.  If you don’t have someone, call a church or a hospital to find out about support groups.  Yes, it is easier to be alone, and that is OK, but not all of the time.  We do need someone to talk with, or to listen to.
  2. Read self help books or inspirational books that relate to what you are going through. Or listen to them on tape, if you are having a hard time focusing. Listening to the words can be a great help too.  Sometimes this can be a much easier way to take in the helpful words.  We may be able to comprehend better than when we read, because when we are in a deep place of grief it can be difficult to focus on words.
  3. Getting out in nature, going for walks, or even for drives to pretty places, can help us to reflect on the beauty around us and remind us of other blessings in our lives. Remember if you are able to go for walks to breath in the fresh air.  Fresh air is invigorating, intoxicating and down right good for our body and well being.
  4. Aromatherapy is natural way of achieving optimal emotional and physical health. The fragrance of an essential oil can directly affect everything from your emotional state to your lifespan. Thus, a therapeutic essential oil can affect our feelings and thoughts because smell is our most emotional sense. Scent stimulates nerves to fire in the emotional center of the brain, but it also stimulates the master gland to release hormones. Hormones affect the fight/flight response, as well as digestion and heart rate. In this way, essential oils can affect us in many ways all at once, just through their fragrance.  Aromatherapy is a very positive way that may help to heal from emotional pain.*
  5. Raindrop Technique utilizing emotional Young Living therapeutic-grade essential oils, could also be an excellent way to move to healing from grief and sorrow.  Raindrop Technique is a simple practice that can be learned and may be very beneficial for emotional healing and physical healing. (Read my article on Raindrop Technique for Mind, Body and Soul)*

Behavioral patterns can be hard to change. When we get in the habit of doing something it can take a lot of hard work to break those bad habits.  We have all heard from many people and sources how to battle and overcome bad habits. The key is in understanding our bad habits, wanting to change them, believing it is possible and to start somewhere, sometime.

Young Living essential oils has over 150 different  single oils and blends.  Their are approximately 70 blends that have been specifically formulated to help with different issues, whether it be physical, emotional or spiritual.

There are many Young Living essential oils that could aide in changing behavioral patterns, or otherwise known as bad habits. The one I will concentrate on now is Transformation.

Transformation™ empowers and upholds changes you want to make in your belief system. By replacing negative beliefs with revitalizing new thought patterns, a transformation in behaviors, emotions, and attitudes is possible.*

Repressed trauma and tragedy from the past may be out of sight, but they are definitely not out of mind.  Memories are imprinted in our cells for better or worse.  Stored negative emotions need to be replace with joy, hope and courage.

Reaching into the deepest recesses of memory, Transformation empowers and upholds the changes you want to make in your belief system.  Positive, uplifting beliefs are foundational for the transformation of behavior.*

Transformation contains: Lemon, peppermint, sandalwood, clary sage, frankincense, balsam fir (Idaho), rosemary, and cardamom.

How to Use

Foot application:

The first place I would suggest applying the essential oil is to the bottoms of your feet. Before you put your shoes on for the day, take a moment to first drop 1-2 drops of the essential oil and about 1/8 teaspoon of V6 carrier oil onto the palm of your hand, stir three times in a clock like motion, and then apply to the bottoms of your feet. With the remainder of the scent that is on your hands, cup your hands over your nose and take several nice long deep inhalations. (Be mindful to not touch your face with your hands, just cup your hands about an inch away from you nose and face.

When essential oils are applied to the bottoms of the feet the essential oil passes easily through our skin and cell membranes within 20 minutes.

According to researcher Jean Valnet, M.D., an essential oil that is directly applied to the skin can pass into the bloodstream and diffuse throughout the tissues in 20 minutes or less [all the more reason why you want to know your essential oil is the purest, as are Young Living Essential oils. Diffusing

You can also put 5-10 drops of Transformation oil in a diffuser to diffuse in your environment. The bonus by doing this is not only may it help you to feel beter, but anyone else that is around may feel better too.

When diffusing essential oils the essential oil is in the air, and you are breathing in the tiny molecules of essential oil and this effect may help to balance your moods.

In a cold air nebulizer diffuser start by diffusing your Young Living essential oils for 15-30 minutes, one to four times a day for normal situations. Place the nebulizer diffuser higher in the room (a shelf, bar, or fireplace mantle are good choices) so that the essential oil mist has a longer distance to fall through the air.

The natural properties found in Young Living essential oils produce a soothing, uplifting effect on the mind and emotions. When an essential oil containing the optimum level of therapeutic constituents is diffused, the result fosters a sense of emotional balance and well-being.

When the aroma of essential oils are inhaled, the scent travels to the reticular system of the brain stem where emotions and memories are connected. This enables essential oils to improve emotional wellness in many ways.

Start by diffusing your Young Living essential oils for 15-30 minutes, one to four times a day for normal situations. Place the nebulizer diffuser higher in the room (a shelf, bar, or fireplace mantle are good choices) so that the essential oil mist has a longer distance to fall through the air. Aromatherapy, or essential oils, are helpful in elevating and balancing moods. Nature has many answers for problems and balancing out emotions is one of them. Therapeutic grade essential oils carry the “life force” of the plant and they offer the plant’s vibrancy and normalizing effects.

The fragrance of an essential oil can directly affect everything from your emotional state to your lifespan. Essential oils work differently than any other natural substance.

The natural properties found in Young Living essential oils produce a soothing, uplifting effect on the mind and emotions. When an essential oil containing the optimum level of therapeutic constituents is inhaled, the result fosters a sense of emotional balance and well-being.

Full Body Massage: Mix 4 drops with 1 teaspoon V-6 Massage Oil.

In the Bath: Mix 4 drops with 1/4 cup Epsom Salts or Sea Salt, add to running bath water.

Take one day at a time. Work on today to begin to put your past behavioral problems where they belong, in the past. Do not fret about them, or the past and do not worry about the future. We can not control our past or our future but we can work on today and make our daily goals a focus of change.  Here’s to kicking those bad habits right out the door.

Many air fresheners that are purchased in stores are most likely loaded with chemicals and toxins.  Air fresheners that are purchase from stores are used in homes and offices, and what people are being led to believe is that they create a clean, healthy, and pleasant smelling environment.  This is NOT the case.

One chemical in particular that is in most air fresheners is phthalates.  What people need to realize is that when the phthalates are released into the air and inhaled, or land on the skin and absorbed, the chemicals enter the bloodstream, they can alter hormone levels and cause other health problems.  This is especially a concern for children and women who are pregnant.

Phthalates are used in many common consumer products—to soften plastics in children’s toys, as sealants and adhesives in nail polish, in perfumes, and of course in air fresheners.

“Phthalates are known to interfere with production of the male hormone, testosterone, and have been associated with reproductive abnormalities. Numerous animal studies have linked prenatal exposure to certain phthalates with decreases in testosterone, malformations of the genitalia, and reduced sperm production. The State of California notes that five types of phthalates—including one that we found in air freshener products—are “known to cause birth defects or reproductive harm.” Phthalate exposure in indoor environments has also been associated with allergic symptoms and asthma.” Natural Resources Defense Council

What options do we have to achieve a safer, healthier environment, and to have fresher, cleaner air in our homes and offices and to feel assured of being free of harmful and hazardous chemicals?

One sure way to have a fresher environment is to be able to open windows and have a fan going to circulate the air.  However certain times of the year it is not feasible to open windows and if you are the city, the air isn’t the greatest, or if you are in an office, you may not have the luxury of being able to open a window.

If you are unable to open your windows, the next best thing is to diffuse Young Living therapeutic-grade essential oils.  Not only do you get a natural safe, fresh scent, but you get the added benefit of the therapeutic value from the essential oil, and a “green” product.

In regard to what essential oil to use, there are many choices.  Young Living has over 150 different single and blend essential oils. It all depends on what you are desiring for the scent, the ambiance, a clean fresh scent, or even protection from germs.

Diffused therapeutic-grade essential oils alter the structure of molecules that create odors, rather than simply masking them. They also increase oxygen availability and produce negative ions.

A few oils that are nice for any of these choices would be:

  1. Peace and Calming is a gentle, fragrant blend. When diffused, it helps calm tensions and uplift the spirit, promoting relaxation and a deep sense of peace. When massaged on the bottoms of the feet, it can be a wonderful prelude to a peaceful night’s rest. Peace & Calming may be especially calming and comforting to young children after an overactive and stressful day.*
  2. Lemon has a strong, purifying, citrus scent that is revitalizing and uplifting. Lemon consists of 68 percent dlimonene, a powerful antioxidant.*
  3. Thieves was created based on research about four thieves in France who covered themselves with cloves, rosemary, and other aromatics while robbing plague victims. This proprietary essential oil blend was university tested for its cleansing abilities. It is highly effective in supporting the immune system and good health.*

If you are looking for a natural safe alternative to freshen the air in your home, office, or even in your car, and to aide in a healthier environment for your family, friends, co-workers and even your pets, Young Living essential oils are the best way to go.

Young Living essential oils are top quality. (Read more on quality). You also get the added benefit of having your products delivered right to your door.

Are you ready to throw away all those nasty air fresheners that are harmful?  Please  contact me with questions you may have.  I would be happy to help you in choosing the essential oils to get you started and I look forward to hearing from you.

Anger is a normal emotion that is familiar to most of us. It can be a very uncomfortable feeling and a powerful signal that something is wrong. The feeling of anger can consume you and that is why it is important that you know how to handle it and get it under control.

Some people use drugs and other chemicals to deal with anger. These drugs have unknown side effects, and they can occasionally become a negative impact on the mind.

Essential oils may help you overcome anger in your life, and give you a boost in attitude and a complete overhaul in how you view your life.  And essential oils are a natural alternative and healthier way of healing.

When we have an emotional situation come up, instead of being overwhelmed by it, we can diffuse essential oils, put them in our bath, wear them as a cologne or perfume and even use them as an air freshener.   Aromatherapy is completely natural and has been used for thousands of years and aromatherapy may enhance health and mood through the use of concentrated plant extracts.  The essential oil molecules will absorb into the bloodstream and from the nasal and buccal cavity to the limbic system. They will activate the amygdala (the memory center for fear and trauma), sedate and relax the sympathetic/parasympathetic system.

Because essential oils affect the amygdala and pineal gland in the brain, they can help the mind and body by releasing emotional traumas and other upsets.

Young Living Essential Oil Choices for Anger

Blends: Release, Valor, Sacred Mountain, Joy, Harmony, Hope, Forgiveness, Present Time, Trauma Life, Surrender, Christmas Spirit, White Angelica.

Single Oils: Bergamot, Cedarwood, Roman Chamomile, Frankincense, Lavender, Lemon, Marjoram, Myrrh, Orange, Rose, Sandalwood, Ylang Ylang.

Note: all citrus oils and bergamot can be photosensitizing, do not apply these oils on skin that will be exposed to direct sunlight for 24 hours.

Our pets stress can become quite aggravated at the drop of a hat, literally.  If you have skittish critters, it does not take much for them to be stressed and get scared, and their poor little hearts can start pumping like crazy. Some are more skittish than others.  Wouldn’t you like to be able to help them out, so that they are calmer?

Young Living has many different therapeutic-grade essential oils that are calming and they are safe to use with pets.  This is because Young Living essential oils are quality oils, they are not perfume grade.  When you use essential oils for your self and your pets, you want to be sure that you know that the essential oil you are using is a quality essential oil. This is extremely important, especially when you use them for therapeutic purposes on your pets that you love so much.

Read more on essential oil quality

Three oils that are particularly great calming oils are:

  1. Lavender is a great aid for relaxing.
  2. Peace and Calming blend helps calm tensions, promoting relaxation and a deep sense of peace.
  3. RutaVala blend promotes relaxation of the body and mind. It helps ease tension and relieve stress.

It’s quite simple to use Young Living essential oils on our pets.  You know that first off, you have your quality oil with Young Living.   Young Living essential oils are very concentrated and powerful, so it is important to understand that less is better!

The easiest way to use Young Living essential oils with your pets is by diffusing them.  By diffusing the essential oil your pets, and you, are getting the aromatherapy by breathing in the essential oil that is being diffused.  The diffuser literally puts the essential oil into the air in micro-fine particles that stay suspended in the air for several hours.

Start by diffusing your Young Living essential oils for 15-30 minutes, one to four times a day for normal situations. Place the nebulizer diffuser higher in the room (a shelf, bar, or fireplace mantle are good choices) so that the essential oil mist has a longer distance to fall through the air.

Read more on diffusing

Essential oils can also be applied topically.  Remember less is better.  The amount of essential oil that is used would be determined by the size of your pet.

  • Small to medium sized pets, like cats or small/medium dogs:
  1. Take 1 drop of any of the above mentioned essential oils.
  2. Place it in the palm of your hand and rub your hands together until the essential oil is dry.
  3. Rub your pets paws and give them a nice loving petting.
  • Larger sized dogs
  1. Take 2 drop of any of the above mentioned essential oils.
  2. Place it in the palm of your hand and rub your hands together until the essential oil is dry.
  3. Rub your pets paws and give them a nice loving petting.

With either one of these therapies, diffusing or topical application you should see your pets becoming calmer.  They may begin to love it when you bring out the essential oils.  I know my pets love them and they have their favorites, just like I do.

We love our pets, and they love us, so why not help them to feel less stress by having Young Living essential oils on hand for them.  You can get your products delivered right to your door.  Young living has other pet products that are all natural, and if you are interested in learning more, please contact me.

Happiness can be a feeling that is in the shadows of many peoples emotions.  At times when we feel depressed, angry or uncertain about life, sadness takes over. When this feeling has overtaken us it is hard to even want to think about changing our feeling, as we are so consumed with our negative thoughts, and that is all we think about.  This can be very hard to turn around and when these feelings are upon us, we don’t even care much about making them go away.

What’s important for anyone who may be feeling this way is to realize that it is possible to feel better and what it takes is change of thought and also the remarkable therapeutic power of plants and nature’s healing powers through therapeutic grade essential oils.

Here are steps toward feeling happy:

  1. Take a moment to recognize your feelings.
  2. Believe you can change your feelings to happiness and positive energy.
  3. Choose a Young Living Essential oil for what ever emotion you are feeling at the moment.

What do I mean by “Choose a Young Living Essential oil for what ever emotion you are feeling at the moment.”?

  1. If you are feeling sad, you may want to choose Joy oil blend.
  2. If you are feeling anger, you may want to choose Forgiveness or Release oil blend.
  3. If you are feeling stress, you may want to choose Peace & Calming blend.
  4. If you are feeling lousy but can’t seem to pin point your emotion, you may want to choose Lavender or Harmony oil blend.
  5. If you are feeling unmotivated, you may want to choose Motivation oil blend.

These are some choices of oils that may help in times when you are feeling despair for whatever reason. They could be enhanced with topping off with the essential oil blend of Believe.

The next step after determining your choice of essential oil is what to do with it, how to use it so that you are able to begin to feel better.

All of the Young Living essential oils I have mentioned above, may be applied topically, by inhalation or by diffusing them.

Foot application:

The first place I would suggest applying the essential oil is to the bottoms of your feet. For instance, if you wake up in the morning feeling sad or not in a very good mood, before you put your shoes on for the day, take a moment to apply 1-2 drops of Joy oil to the bottoms of your feet.  With the remainder of the scent that is on your hands, cup your hands over your nose and take several nice long deep inhalations. (Keep hands away from touching the skin on your face.)

Read more on quality]

Diffusing

You can also put 10-15 drops of Joy oil in a diffuser to diffuse in your environment.  The bonus by doing this is not only may it help you to feel more joyful, but anyone else that is around may feel better too.

When diffusing essential oils the essential oil is in the air, and you are breathing in the tiny molecules of essential oil.  This effect may help to balance your moods.

(Read more on diffusing)

The natural properties found in Young Living essential oils produce a soothing, uplifting effect on the mind and emotions. When an essential oil containing the optimum level of therapeutic constituents is diffused, the result fosters a sense of emotional balance and well being.

When the aroma of essential oils is inhaled, the scent travels to the reticular system of the brain stem where emotions and memories are connected. This enables essential oils to improve emotional wellness in many ways.
