Have you ever come in contact with someone who is so overpowering with the perfume they are wearing that you want to quickly move away from the engulfing smell?  For me it can be nauseating.

Did you know that synthetic perfumes are made up of chemicals, paraffin, alcohol and phthalates and can trigger adverse reactions such as headaches, nausea, dizziness, wheezing, burning eyes or a runny nose.

Aromatherapy perfume is a perfect way to express your love and is a gift that just keeps on giving. It is a leap of faith to show your loved one how much they are loved, by giving them a sweet fresh smell of beautiful natural fragrances from pure plant essence,  that have come from the earth, instead of synthetic perfumes.

How heavenly for both the giver and the receiver to both experience the delights of the scent and the uplifting qualities that come with wearing essential oils as perfume.

Young Livings essential oils are top quality therapeutic grade essential oils and so the benefits after applying essential oil may be beneficial mentally, physically and spiritually.   Young Livings essential oils are highly concentrated, therefore you only need to dab on a little to your ‘pulse points’, on your wrists, on your navel, between your breasts, on the back of your hands, in the crook of your elbows, base of your neck, across your shoulders, along your collarbone, etc. I like to run my fingers through my hair with the essential oil on my hands. Hair will hold the fragrance much longer than skin application.

Essential oils do not have the same kind of staying power as synthetic mass produced perfumes. So be sure to place your favorite essential oil in your purse and touch it up as needed throughout the day.

When you put the essential oil on, allow a few minutes for the scent to develop on you. Each essential oil blend is a fascinating mixture of many plants and tends to have a somewhat different fragrance on different individuals.  Give the essential oil time to get acquainted with you.

Young Living essential oils offer more than just a pleasant aroma. They provide specific effects based on aromatherapy. For instance a blend might: awaken hidden passions, inspire confidence, attract abundance, be intoxicating, relieve stress or worries or increase creativity. Wearing essential oils is another way to express your personal style, character and mood. Create an essential oil ‘wardrobe’ you can have fun with each day.

Some suggestions of Young Living essential oils for Valentines Day coming up:

  1. Joy is a luxuriously exotic blend with uplifting overtones that creates magnetic energy and brings joy to the heart. When worn as cologne or perfume, Joy exudes an alluring and irresistible fragrance that inspires romance and togetherness. When diffused, it can be refreshing and uplifting.
  2. Jasmine has a warm, exotic, floral fragrance that relaxes, soothes, uplifts, and enhances self-confidence. Jasmine is beneficial for the skin. It has been used throughout history for romance and attraction and for balancing the feminine energy of the body.
  3. Harmony is an exquisite blend that promotes physical and emotional well-being by bringing harmonic balance to the energy centers of the body. The liberating, balancing, and calming essential oils in this blend open us to new possibilities while contributing to an overall feeling of well-being
  4. Sandalwood has a rich, sweet, warm, and woody aroma that is sensual and romantic. One of my favorite scent to smell on a man. Used traditionally as incense in religious ceremonies and for meditation, it is uplifting and relaxing. It is valued in skin care for its moisturizing and normalizing properties.

I use to wear synthetic perfumes and my favorite perfume of choice was Chanel No. 5. Today a 3.4 ounce bottle of Chanel No. 5 perfume costs around $115.00.

The cost for a 15 ml bottle of Joy oil is $37.50 and there are approximately 250 drops in a bottle.  Because of the potency of essential oils you only need to use 1-2 drops. Not only does it last a long time, but because of Young Livings dedication to quality, our essential oils last indefinitely, as long as they are kept out the heat and direct sun.  Of course there is the added benefit of the therapeutic actions that come along with wearing Young Living essential oils as a perfume.

I prefer to wear Young Living therapeutic grade essential oils as my perfume. Why? Because I know they are natural and I benefit because of their therapeutic qualities. I also know there is a difference in essential oils that are perfume grade versus therapeutic grade. All I use and wear are Young Living essential oils. Read more on quality.

Young Living has many beautiful essential oils for aromatherapy perfume.  If you have questions or would like suggestions for other essential oils for your sweethearts perfume, please contact me.  Be sure to place your order, so that you have your gift in time for your sweetheart for Valentines Day, or for anytime of the year to show your love for your loved one.

Have you ever thought how the mind and stress work together, and how stress can affect our overall well being? When our stress level is elevated, this may lead to many health issues, one in particular being inflammation, which in itself is the cause of a multitude of illnesses.  If we pay attention to the ‘warning signs’, we may be able to solve a health problem before it happens.

The cause of stress is something that is not easy to control and the outcome due to the stress can be very unpleasant to deal with. Sometimes when we are stressed, it is difficult to get away from the feelings it can cause.  For many they take a prescription drug and we all know that drugs have many side effects.  So why not take a minute to try to access the situation, figure out why you are feeling the way you are, and fix it with a natural substance from the earth, rather then a man made synthetic drug.

A few warning signs:

  • Anxious–Feeling of mental distress, worry about daily life, uneasiness, or fear
  • Anger–Feel displeasure, belligerence or impatience towards others
  • Unable to cope–Difficulty dealing with problems or responsibilities
  • Overwhelmed–A frantic feeling, running in circles trying to accomplish too many things at once and hardly getting anything done, a feeling of great burden.

These are all feelings that can be harmful not only to ourselves, but also to those around us.  Our stress, can stress them out too.

So what can we do?  First and foremost is to recognize when we are feeling stressed, in whatever form it is affecting us.  This is where a healthier mind comes in.  To deal with stress we must help our mind to combat the stressful state we are in.

There are many techniques and ways that may help.  The first would be to take a deep breath.  The next is an excellent, very beneficial and therapeutic way that may calm you down, and I have found it to help me greatly; and that is Stress Away Roll On.

Stress Away Roll On is a roll on I always have with me not only for myself, but for others just in case they are experiencing a bad day. It is so easy to use and convenient, because of its portable and easy to use application. Just take the cap off and rub the roll on generously to your wrists, temples, neck, or any desired area as needed.

The roll-on applicator has a metal ball that glides the oils onto your skin so softly. The smell is so lovely, I just wish you could smell Stress Away through this article and experience the divine scents of Copaiba, Lime, Cedarwood, Vanilla, Ocotea, and Lavender, in this therapeutic-grade essential oil blend.

I like to start my day with Stress Away Roll On not only to help my mind start out the day in a more healthy, calmed way, but also because of its sweat, woody scent, I love to wear it as my perfume. It’s unique blend of Young Living therapeutic grade essential oils relieves daily stress, encourages relaxation, and reduces nervous tension.*

I also apply the roll on to the bottoms of my feet for added benefits.  When essential oils are applied to the bottoms of the feet the benefits of essential oils are delivered throughout the body.  The benefits of therapeutic essential oils provide positive effects on all levels of the physical body, spiritual body, and the soul through their healing properties, through the skin.  These healing feelings can be felt within just a few minutes.

There are so many ways that may help to benefit you with a healthier mind, body and soul by adapting a lifestyle change and incorporating Young Living therapeutic grade essential oil therapy into your life. I know that my life is enhanced for the better, and I am less stressed and more joyful because of Young Living essential oils.  You too can get these benefits by ordering your natural Stress Away Roll On, by clicking:

Vita Flex Technique means “vitality through the reflexes.” It is a specialized form of hand and foot massage that is exceptionally effective in delivering the benefits of essential oils throughout the body. It is said to have originated in Tibet thousands of years ago, and was perfected in the 1960s by Stanley Burroughs long before acupuncture was popular in Western medicine.

It is based on a complete network of reflex points that stimulate all the internal body systems. Essential oils are applied to contact points, and energy is released through electrical impulses created by contact between the fingertips and reflex points. This electrical charge follows the nerve pathways to a break or clog in the electrical circuit usually caused by toxins, damaged tissues, or loss of oxygen. As with acupressure there are hundreds of Vita Flex reflex points throughout the human body, encompassing the entire realm of body and mind that are capable of releasing many kinds of tension, congestion, and imbalances.

In contrast to the steady stimulation of reflexology, Vita Flex uses a ‘rolling’ and ‘releasing’ motion that involves placing fingers flat on the skin, rolling onto the fingertips, and continuing over onto the fingernail using medium pressure. Then moving forward about half the width of the finger, this rolling and releasing technique is continually repeated until the Vita Flex point, or area, is covered. This movement is repeated over the area three times.

When you performing the Vita Flex technique you affect everything in the zone (every point around it) because the energy travels along the meridians. Meridian lines travel vertically in the body. In Vibrational Medicine by Richard Gerber, MD (pages 121-126) Studies have proven that the meridian systems have their own ducts independent of the vascular and lymphatic systems.

10 Steps: to Perform the Vita Flex Technique

  1. While Vita Flex rolls the finger from the pad to the tip, Reflexology combines this with a glide. It’s called finger walking. You can practice this movement on your arm or your own foot. You will be rolling your fingers from the pad, to the tips, to the first set of knuckles in a nice evenly pressured rolling manner.
  2. Select the Young Living essential oil you wish to use and have it handy, with cap off (see suggestions below)
  3. Stand at the feet of the recipient, who is lying comfortably, and place the palms of your hands on the soles of their feet (with your arms crossed one over the other), lightly but firmly make contact with the soles of their feet, breathe in a relaxed and deep manner until you feel the connection with the recipient (this is usually a few minutes)
  4. When you feel the connection, slowly remove your hands, put 2-3 drops of the chosen Young Living essential oil in the palm of your non-dominant hand, then dip the fingertips of your dominant hand into the essential oil
  5. With your non-dominant hand cradle the heal of the recipient in your palm
  6. Place the pads of fingertips (that were just dipped into the essential oil) on the skin surface of the foot (applying firm but gentle pressure)
  7. Slowly and evenly go up onto your fingertips
  8. Using the same pressure and fluid motion, go from your fingertips down onto your fingernails
  9. From your fingernails, continue the motion until you come down onto the skin surface with your fingers until your first set of knuckles touch the skin surface, that has completed one motion
  10. Lift your hand slightly upward and reposition your finger pads about 1/2 inch from the point where they just were and start with step 1 again, perform this movement until the entire foot, or hand of the recipient has been completed (do not drag your fingers or pull the skin)

Tip 1: Vita Flex is best done with very short fingernails just like any form of massage or bodywork.

Tip 2: Practice the above steps on your own arm, hand or foot, so you get the idea of what it is suppose to feel like and so that you can obtain that nice fluid movement.

Vita Flex on the hands or feet is typically done in conjunction with and prior to giving a Raindrop Technique. However, Vita Flex technique is wonderful on it’s own.

Which Essential Oils to Choose

The Young Living essential oils that you would choose would be oils that correspond to the system of the body you wish to support. Rapid and extra ordinary results are experienced when combining essential oils with Vita Flex as it increases the effect of both.

Popular Young Living Essential Oils for Vita Flex Technique

Any of the essential oils on this list can be used alone or in combination. When used in combination, use one oil at a time. Choose the oil that best suits the needs of the recipient.

  • Clarity
  • Brain Power
  • EndoFlex
  • R.C.
  • Oregano
  • Di-Gize
  • PanAway
  • Peppermint
  • Relieve It
  • M-Grain
  • Aroma Life
  • ImmuPower
  • Valor

Additional Tips:

  • The skin on the tops of the feet is fairly delicate, if you are applying essential oils to the tops you will want to use a little carrier oil to dilute the essential oil(s).
  • Quite often we like to finish bodywork with peppermint as this can enhance the overall beneficial effects of the other oils and the Vita Flex Technique session.

Therapeutic Oregano essential oil is quite well known for its beneficial properties that many have heard about before. You may even have used this wonderful essential oil or heard friends speak about using it. Quite often essential oil users turn to Oregano oil during the fall and winter months for its cold and flu fighting benefits. There are over dozens of studies at PubMed on the value of this highly beneficial oil. To ensure that you’re getting what you pay for it’s imperative to buy the best quality, therapeutic grade, such as Young Living (any essential oil of lower quality will not produce the same results.

The versatility of oregano oil is perhaps one of the reasons it is a favorite among essential oil users. For instance, I can use my Young Living oregano oil in cooking to flavor my food and also it can help kill bacteria in the food that may make me ill, such as E. coli. Salmonealla and Listeria monocytogenes (as is seen in this study). Do keep in mind though that Young Living essential oils are extremely potent and in most dishes in cooking one or possibly two drops of oregano oil are quite sufficient (tips on how to use essential oils in cooking).

Oregano oil is rich in carvacrol. Carvacrol is responsible for the biological activities of oregano. Many diverse activities of carvacrol such as antimicrobial, antitumor, antimutagenic, antigenotoxic, analgesic, antispasmodic, antiinflammatory, angiogenic, antiparasitic, to name just a few; have shown activities and uses such as feed additive, in honeybee breeding and in gastrointestinal ailments (study).

While the food, personal care product, and pharmaceutical industries will use the ‘isolated’ carvacrol found in oregano oil it is advantageous to know that in nature each plant contains many natural compounds that work synergistically and as such many people, myself included, far prefer the benefits of keeping herbal remedies in tact. For instance, an isolated ingredient can have very negative effects on the body. But when it is left whole with all of the other compounds naturally occurring in a plant it can oftentimes be perfectly safe and beneficial.

Oregano Oil Key Constituents

Carvacrol (60-75%)
Gamma-Terpinene (3.5-8.5%)
Para-Cymene (5.5-9%)
Beta Caryophyllene (2-5%)
Myrcene (1-3%)
Thymol (0-5%)
Kurt Schnaubelt, Ph.D. wrote in his book, Advanced Aromatherapy, that oregano scored 92% against stapholococcus, 83% against streptococcus, 96% against pneumococcus, 78% against candida. Clearly, a pure therapeutic-grade essential oil of oregano is an incredible substance for keeping those pesky microbes at bay.
Using Oregano Oil Safely

As with any pure high quality essential oil it is imperative that you use great care for best results. With oregano oil; it is not for use with children or pregnant women without a doctors consent.

When applying oregano oil topically it is advised that it too be used mindfully as it is considered a ‘hot’ essential oil. Which means that it is spicy and the heat can irritate skin of an adult. So always use a carrier oil, such as V-6, when applied topically. The dilution ratio would be 2 drops oregano oil to 1-2 teaspoons of carrier oil.

High in phenols, oregano may irritate the nasal membranes or skin if inhaled directly from diffuser or bottle, and not applied neat (without a carrier oil).

Oregano Oil is Found in These Young Living Products:

  • ImmuPower (essential oil blend)
  • Inner Defense Softgels (supplement)
  • Ortho Sport Massage Oil
  • Regenolone Cream (muscle aches, joint stiffness, inflammation)

Each mask listed below is designed for a specific skin type. Find the one that works best with your skin type and do a little pampering! A good mask usually isn’t needed more than once a week, but you can utilize certain formulations more as needed.

Although clay masks are thought to be drying, they contain great benefits for the skin and can be used very successfully in your beauty regimen.

Green clay has become the talk of the beauty world. The absorbent properties of green clay work in beauty treatments by drawing out impurities and toxins from the skin, toning and firming while stimulating circulation. Estheticians use it to tighten pores, exfoliate dead skin, and reveal a smoother, fresher complexion. Green clay is readily available online and at natural beauty retailers. It makes an ideal base for any of the masks below.

Green Clay Mask Base

Create your mask base by mixing green clay together with a little corn flour and a quarter teaspoon of powdered raw oats.

Tip: when mixing the ‘wet’ ingredients into the clay mixture you may want to add a couple drops of water or neroli or V-6 if the mixture needs more moisture to form a nice paste.

Note: The ‘corn flour” mentioned in this recipe can be made by putting a little cornmeal in an electric coffee grinder to make it into a fine powder. I have a Krups coffee grinder that its sole purpose is for making a powder out of dried herbs, nuts, oats, and other grains – you do not want to use the same grinder that you use for your coffee beans as the coffee flavor will get into your other ground foods.

Mask for Normal Skin with Geranium Essential Oil

For a normal skin, mix the clay, corn flour, and oats together with one beaten egg white. Add one drop geranium oil. Mix well to form a paste and apply.

Mask for Dry Skin with Chamomile Essential Oil

For a dry skin, mix the clay, corn flour, and oats together with one beaten egg white. Add one teaspoon wheat germ oil or evening primrose oil, plus one drop chamomile (Roman or German) oil and two drops carrot seed oil. Mix well to form a paste and apply.

Mask for Oily Skin with Lavender and Frankincense Essential Oils

For an oily skin, mix the clay, corn flour, and oats together with one beaten egg white. Add one drop lavender oil and one drop frankincense oil or juniper berry oil. Mix well to form a paste and apply.

Mask for Problem Skin with Lavender and Tea Tree Essential Oils

For a problem skin, mix the clay, corn flour, and oats together with one beaten egg white. Add one drop lavender oil, one drop tea tree oil. Mix well to form a paste and apply.

Rejuvenating Skin Mask with Frankincense and Myrrh Essential Oils

For a general skin boost, mix the clay, corn flour, and oats together with one beaten egg white. Add one teaspoon jojoba oil, one drop chamomile oil, one drop frankincense oil, and one drop myrrh oil. Mix well to form a paste and apply.

Before Application

Before applying the mask, make sure that the skin is cleansed properly and dried by patting it with a towel. A light exfoliating cleanser such as Young Living’s Satin Facial Scrub Mint will work well in prepping the skin for the best mask application.

After applying any of the masks, leave on for at least fifteen minutes and wash off with lukewarm water and pat the skin dry. Apply moisturizer. ART® Day or Night Activator is a good recommendation for effective and refining moisture with the benefits of frankincense.

Note: If you have never used essential oils or green clay and are prone to allergies, do a patch test on a small area to gage sensitivity before applying any of these masks.

Hey mom’s, and moms-to-be, have you ever noticed that just about every popular pregnancy site you go to is full of un-natural, chemical based product advertisements? Based off of results in this study done by the EPA, chemical based products are the last thing a pregnant woman should be around. They not only degrade the mother’s health, but have been linked to many serious childhood health problems as well. During pregnancy is one of the most important times of all to go all-natural.

The problem is, so many mom’s these days have no idea where to start in going all-natural. Below are five simple, quick steps to get any wise, concerned mama started! Even if you can only incorporate a couple of these steps into your life it is still worth doing as you will be that many steps ahead!

  1. Whole Food Prenatal’s.  I cannot say enough about how much better, and more effective whole food prenatal’s are then synthetic. Rather then repeat myself, check out my article on the subject of whole food vitamins.
  2. If you wouldn’t eat it, don’t put it on your body! Please, ladies, just say no to synthetic, chemical based bath and beauty products!! What you put on the skin goes into the body, and into your baby’s body. Again, view this study by the EPA to see why this is so important. If you don’t know where to start in finding good bath and beauty products that build health instead of degrade it, Young Living is a great place to start. You can browse through their healthy Personal Care Products here.
  3. Ditch the regular household cleaning products and use eco-friendly ones. The EPA study explains this too. Vinegar, baking soda, a couple drops of lemon essential oil placed in a bucket of hot water, and a wonderful, disinfecting yet natural cleaning solution called Thieves Household Cleaner Concentrate, (you can dilute this cleaner with water and even use the diluted solution in a spray bottle for all-purpose cleaning) are my personal favorites for household cleaning.

Both the Lemon oil and Thieves Cleaner are  available here. You can clean with what ever essential oil meets your fancy though just make sure it is pure, therapeutic grade like Young Livings-cleaning this way with essential oils is great fun if I may add! If you need help getting started in this area, visit Environmentally Friendly Cleaning for great idea’s and links today.

  4. Go Organic! The best way to do this is to grow your produce yourself, that way you can be assured you are getting chemical and preservative free food.Second best is to buy local, from growers you know fairly well and can quiz to as if they use pesticides/herbicides.

An article worth reading on this subject can be found here-Note, this article was very good, but dated as they said there was no real proof that pesticide residues in food cause health problems and the EPA and other sources have since proven there is.

  5. Opt for natural remedies whenever possible. So many pain relievers and over the counter medications cannot even be taken in pregnancy, but natural preventatives like essential oils, vitamin D-3, carrot juice, and whole food supplements can!! Eating well, taking the best supplements, and getting enough sleep can go a long ways in any pregnancy regime, but should you get the normal aches and pains, or even sniffles, natural remedies are safe and effective.Young Living provides two things I would not want to be without during a pregnancy, Theives essential oil blend for when I feel something coming on and Deep Relief Roll-on for aches and pains! With my master’s in herbology (a degree in the use of herbs) I have used both of these during pregnancy without fear and to tremendous advantage, however it is recommended that you talk to you health practitioner prior to using them. I would find a good naturopathic doctor to talk to because an M.D. has no training in the use of alternative medicine as this.

How Much Does it Cost to Go Natural?

For moms who want to save the most money in going natural I highly recommend signing up for a wholesale account with Young Living, this way you’ll save 24% off their products.

The cost of all of the suggested products above at wholesale cost; (a Whole Food Supplement, Bath product, Thieves Concentrate Cleaner, Lemon oil, Thieves essential oil blend and Deep Relief Roll-On) will end up costing you roughly $130.00 (U.S.A.)*. The only item that would need to be replaced regularly is the Whole Food Supplement, the other items would last for quite some time.

Products are guaranteed pure, and delivered to your door saving you money in fuel expenses (and the inconvenient trips to stores with little one’s in tote). For more information on signing up for a wholesale account, click here.

Valentines Day is fast approaching and soon everyone will be looking for the perfect gift for their special someone. There will be chocolates and flowers – especially roses – as well as other assorted gifts, dinners and movies, a day at a spa and other things as well. The problem with most of these gifts is that they don’t last very long.

The dinner and a movie, aside from the memories, only last for the evening. The chocolates may last a couple of days. The roses may, if extreme care is taken, last a couple of weeks. This year why not focus of gifts that will last longer (I’m not talking about toasters or power tools) or can show your devotion repeatedly.

One way to start may be with giving a foot massage preceded by a foot bath. Our feet are most likely the part of the body that gets the most abuse from wearing shoes that are bad for us and walking on concrete surfaces, and yet, they receive the least attention and care. You don’t need to take a class or workshop to make this feel good for your partner, just pay special attention to what you are doing and how they are reacting – be especially careful if they have any medical problems with their feet.

Another way is to fill the air of your home with scents they love. Most people really enjoy the aroma of roses. The Damascus Rose (Rosa damascena) is the most fragrant and alluring rose known. It’s aroma is considered to be intoxicating and aphrodisiac like. It has the highest frequency of any known essential oil at 320MHz (learn more about essential oils and frequency)

If your partner is into roses a dozen will cost you about $30.00, or $2.50 each. As I said before they may last up to two weeks. As of this writing, Young Living’s Rose (Rosa damascena) costs $236.51 for a 5ml bottle. Right now I know you are saying “Holy $%#$!” Just relax because that comes out to about $2.95 per drop at about 80 drops per bottle. Now I know you are thinking that’s not too bad but still quite expensive. Well, maybe. However, price wise, just to buy your classic long stem roses to keep the scent in the air (and very weak at that) you would have to buy at least a dozen roses per month, every month.

The benefit of buying the essential oil is that the oil stays vital for a long time and you can show your love throughout the year for about a drop a week.

There are many ways to use rose essential oil to show your affection:

  • Put a drop on a scrap piece of cloth and tuck it under their pillow case so they can breathe it while they sleep;
  • Fill a small spray bottle with water and add 5 drops of rose oil. Every time you change the sheets give the clean linens a quick spritz;
  • diffuse the oil while giving them a foot massage (or any massage);

“That’s fine and dandy,” you are thinking. “What if my partner loves being outdoors or doesn’t care for roses?”

In that case there are many other options:

  • Jasmine,
  • Patchouly,
  • Sandal Wood,
  • Evergreen Essence,
  • Ylang Ylang,
  • Geranium
  • Gentle Baby,
  • Joy,
  • Sacred Mountain, and,
  • White Angelica

There are many others that can be used in place of our Damascus Rose essential oil. However, if they do love rose, this would be the best option.

A wet climate or a tropical humid climate are areas that could be a concern for the development of mold. Humidity 55% or higher could be a breeding ground for toxic mold. One of the most common places for the possible development of mold is in basements.

If you feel it is black mold, the easiest and best solution is to diffuse Young Living therapeutic grade blend of Thieves essential oil. Not only will you be breathing in the aroma of the Thieves blend but the molecules of the oil will be in the air and helping to protect your environment from mold. If you discover a large area of black mold, do not try removing it yourself, as this could be very hazardous to you.   Disposing of the substance must be handled in the proper way. A professional should be brought in to help assess the situation.

High quality essential oils, such as Young Living’s, can play an important role in helping to prevent toxic black mold from occurring. It is so easy to prevent mold by using Young Living oils and to prevent mold from coming back.

10 Steps to Prevent and Eliminate Toxic Mold

If you do not have mold – in a Nebulizer Diffuser, diffuse the Thieves or Purification blend of essential oils for 15 minutes every 3 hours, or you may instead diffuse for 8 hours, non-stop, once a week. Tip: you can buy a light timer to plug your differ into and set the timer.

    1. Sampling – you may want to contact a professional to have sampling done to determine the type of mold, and whether it is toxic or not. Toxic mold must be dealt with differently than non-toxic mold. If you cannot afford to have professional sampling done you can still try the 10 steps. Tip: the DIY mold sampling test kits are not accurate, so it is best to avoid them. Tip: it is best to discard any items that you do not need or want any longer – and if you do have mold do not sell or donate any items that may be contaminated with mold spores as this will give someone else the problem.
    2. Diffuse – after your samples have been collected, diffuse the Thieves essential oil blend for 24-72 hours, nonstop, in the space. One Cold-air Nebulizer diffuser works well in spaces up to 1000 sq. ft. in size. If possible, and for best results, leave the room closed and sealed during this intensive diffusing. This will allow maximum penetration and absorption of the essential oil. It is best to ‘not’ be living in the space(s) that are being diffused as the essential oils, though they are nontoxic, will be too intense to stay around for longer than a few minutes after the essential oil mist is in the air. Do not leave children, pets, or fish in the space(s) while the 24 hour non-stop diffusing is taking place.
    3. Repair all leaks – repair all leaks and eliminate all sources of moisture. This is a must!
    4. Clean thoroughly – if sampling identifies NO toxic mold, then after diffusing has been completed, clean visible mold and stains with the Thieves Household Cleaner, undiluted. Use protective equipment and take precautions to avoid contact with and breathing mold spores while cleaning.
    5. If sampling identifies Toxic Mold – contact a professional mold remediation service to have infested materials removed and properly disposed. Do not sell or donate any items that may be contaminated with mold spores, as this will give someone else the problem.
    6. Resample – have your professional resample to be sure all sources of mold have been identified and remediated.
    7. Repeat – if necessary, repeat steps 1 through 6, above.
    8. Remove – mold infested materials, seal in plastic and properly dispose. If you do NOT have toxic mold, you may dispose sealed materials in your garbage.
    9. Repair, Replace, Refinish all affected areas.
    10. Diffuse Regularly for prevention and protection.
