According to Dr. Mercola in his recent article, “Deadlier then Cocaine, Heroin, and the Swine Flu“, pain killers are killing thousands of people yearly.  Apparently, prescription drugs kill more then 26,000 people yearly. To quote:

“In fact, prescription drugs cause most of the more than 26,000 fatal overdoses each year, says Leonard Paulozzi of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The number of overdose deaths from opioid painkillers — opium-like drugs that include morphine and codeine — more than tripled from 1999 to 2006, to 13,800 deaths that year, according to recently released CDC statistics.

In the past, most overdoses were due to illegal narcotics, such as heroin, with most deaths in big cities. Prescription painkillers have now surpassed heroin and cocaine however, as the leading cause of fatal overdoses, Paulozzi says.”health-davinci-man-people

I guess if you are dead, then the pain is gone, but I don’t think that was the objective for many of these unfortunate people nor the pain killer! Apparently, one of the big reasons so many people are needing painkillers is because they are overweight, and as they age their joints begin to give them more and more trouble. This is so sad! What is more sad is there are natural, safer products out there and for many people these alternatives may do the trick perfectly. It is always so much better to use natural medicine for pain when you can. In my article, Pharmaceuticals, friends or foes? I pointed out the healthy body has a higher frequency of around 62 to 70 megahertz. Drugs have a very low frequency which, over use and time can drag the body’s frequency down, and when the body’s frequency lowers, sickness and disease can set in. What is furthermore, is things we ingest into the body with low frequencies can have a very difficult time getting back out of the body. According the the School of Natural Healing, drugs such as headache medicine which can get past the blood brain barrier and into the brain have no way of getting back out.

So what is there that is natural that people can do? The answer is many things! Valerian, Scullcap, and White Willow are herbs that herbalists have recommended for pain for many centuries. Currently, our family has enjoyed therapeutic grade essential oils for pain. My husband periodically gets migraines, and since he suspects that in his particular case that they are associated with digestion and liver overload (read more on why here), he takes a JuvaTone pill (it has essential oils and ingredients that support normal liver function) when he feels one coming on and he also takes a drop of Peppermint oil in water and puts a little on his temples and the back of his neck. He got the peppermint oil idea from his cousin-in-law who does the same thing for his migraines. Both of them say it can erase migraine symptoms in their tracks.

For nearly a year I had a wrist pain that would not go away. Sometimes it was better then others, but it got so bad I could not lift things with that hand because of the wrist. Finally, I purchased some Ortho Sport Massage Oil, and after three applications all symptoms were gone for good. We use Ortho Sport on our backs when they go out of place to great advantage. We recently also purchased Young Livings new roll-on Deep Relief, and have found ingredients in it invaluable for neck pain, and even headaches!

Pan-Away, M-Grain, and Aroma Seize are more completely phenomenal oils provided by Young Living that have helped us with pain relief. We have always found that after 5 to 10 minutes, if one oil doesn’t work then another one will. Don’t expect results from regular essential oils from the drug or health food store though, they are not the same. Even if they say “pure” and “100% pure”. Currently there are no labeling laws in America, and  this could simply, and usually does simply mean that the small percentage of oil that happens to be in the vial is pure, while the rest is another cheaper oil or even a synthetic, chemical solution. Just because an oil smells like lavender does not mean it is pure, or that it will work, it simply means it contains the chemical that makes up the smell of lavender but it may be missing the chemicals that bring about relief. The term to look for is Therapeutic Grade. For more information on this visit Aromatherapy Labeling Fraud and Best Essential Oils. For back pain, I have found the Raindrop Technique to be invaluable, you can read more about this here Back Pain and Aromatherapy.
