I recently went on my annual trip with my girlfriends.  When we get together we do a lot of shopping, walking and some hiking.  This trip was located near beaches on Orcas Island, in the San Juan Islands of Washington State. The beaches are lovely, and to get to one in particular we went on a long hike through gorgeous woods and along a path down to the beach. Of course on the beach we look for “treasures”.  After this particular day, we were feeling aches and pains on our bodies and our feet.

PanAway essential oil blend.

PanAway essential oil blend.

My girlfriends know that I always come equipped with my bag of Young Living Essential Oils.  I knew I needed some extra help with my aches and pains, so I applied the essential oil blend of PanAway on my legs and back and to give the therapy an extra boost, I also rubbed the bottoms of my feet with PanAway.  I felt rested and free of any discomfort when I awoke the next morning.

One of my friends however had a stiff neck from sleeping and so I pulled out my Deep Relief Roll On and applied it to the back of her neck and also on the bottoms of her feet. You may wonder why on the bottoms of the feet?  The reason is because  there are many pressure points on the feet that correspond to other body systems. Rubbing the soles of the feet with essential oils is a great way to release tension.  body-systems-foot-chartBy looking at the Foot Chart you can better understand what parts of the foot correspond with our body.  It is interesting to pay attention to how ones body feels after applying Young Living Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils to the bottoms of your feet and also massaging the part of your foot that you may be trying to get relief for.  For me the ultimate gift is to do this for someone, so that they may have two pleasures, a foot rub and benefits from pure essential oils.  And if I’m lucky they too will do the same for me.

Have you ever accidentally poured hot boiling water on your skin?  That was exactly what I did the other day.  I was pouring hot corn water into the sink and spilled some on my wrist.  I immediately got my LavaDerm Cooling Mist Spray and sprayed my wrist and I was very happy to feel relief from the pain as soon as I sprayed the LavaDerm.  My skin was very pink and a few blisters were forming, so I sprayed my wrist more throughout the day to keep my skin moist and free of the pain sensitivity.copaiba-1

During the evening I was working at my computer and I decided to give Young Living’s Essential Oil of Copaiba a try. I love the smell of this oil. To me it is a soft musky and earthy smell.  It too was soothing for my pain.  When I awoke in the morning I looked at my wrist and the blisters were gone and there was hardly any pinkness from the burn on my skin.

I am so thankful for all of our pure essential oils, over 150 in fact.  Copaiba is one of our newer oils and it is from trees in the heart of the Amazon jungles of Brazil.  It has been sold in Amazonian pharmacies and used for nearly 800 years in folk medicine.  Copaiba was also listed in the US Pharmacopeias from 1820 to 1910 for topical and oral uses and is still on the FDA GRAS list (Generally Regarded as Safe). Some of the historic uses are digestive complaints including stomach aches, stomach infections, gastritis, antiseptic, arthritis, cellular mutations, tumors, Fibromyalgia, and pain. Copaiba is the highest none in Sesquiterpenes and in beta-caryophyllene which is an anti-inflammatory compound. Copaiba is definitely a Young Living pure essential oil I always want to have on hand!!

The 30 Day Change Your Life Regime:

Valor

Put Valor essential oil blend on the soles of both feet at nighttime along with Highest Potential Blend. These blends are effective to erase limited thinking. Valor balances and equalizes the body’s energies thereby increasing oxygen intake to the pineal gland-the seat of our higher intelligence and intuitive faculties. You will wake up in the morning more self assured and more alive to start the day.

Harmony

Massage one drop of Harmony essential oil blend on each of the energy center points of your body. There are seven of them along the spine: Coccyx, Sacrum, Lumbar, Dorsal (heart), Cervical (where neck meets shoulders), and Medulla (hollow place at center base of skull), and Pineal (center of forehead). You can also massage Harmony on the crown of the head. Harmony balances the parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems which, in turn, gives us progressive creativity and feelings of confidence. “The biggest sin is not having confidence in yourself,” says Gary, “He who lacks confidence lacks life.”

Forgiveness

Apply Forgiveness essential oil blend around the navel with the right hand going clockwise several times and think of situations where you need to forgive yourself or others. We beat up on ourselves, but everyone makes mistakes. Yet we struggle to forgive our own mistakes and those of others. Unforgiveness is one of the most common roots of physical, mental, and spiritual disease. Unforgiveness does not make the offending party sick. It makes us sick. Forgiveness is for our own benefit.

It is accomplished in five steps:

1) Forgive yourself for allowing the person to affect your health and happiness.

2) Forgive the other person for any harm he or she may have caused you. (This need not be done directly with the person being forgiven, but is an inner adjustment on your part.)

3) Give the other person permission to forgive you.

4) See the good in the situation.

5) Be thankful for the experience and the lesson it taught you. Inhale and apply Forgiveness Oil while going through these steps a nd repeat as often as necessary toclear the feelings of unforgiveness.

Release

Negative energy goes into the blood and then into the liver for cleansing where the toxins can remain trapped. Thus, the liver becomes a storage place for anger, resentment, bitterness, hatred, jealousy, envy, addictions, and a host of destructive feelings. Apply a few drops of Release Oil on your tongue to release the poisons of stored emotions from the liver. Rub Release over the liver area. Drink lots of pure water and do a liver cleanse.

Present Time

When we live in the past or dwell on the future, we are not being productive in the present. Energize three drops of Present Time by making clockwise circles on the oil in the palm of your hand and then apply it to your thymus (the gland just under your sternum or breastbone). Besides keeping you focused on the tasks of today, this can also help you financially by increasing your abundance consciousness in the present.

Inner Child

“When you are a child all things are possible. There are no limitations,” says Gary Young. “When you find your inner child, you have found your true self. The child in you is your creativity.” Apply one drop of Inner Child onto the pad of your thumb and then place your thumb onto the roof of your mouth. This opens the cranial sutures and stimulates the pineal, pituitary, and other organs of the emotional brain that occupy the space just above the roof of your mouth. Walking backwards while you have your thumb in your mouth looks stupid but it changes the rotation in the pelvis, elongating the spine, and decompressing the discs in your back. Thus, you can clear the nerve channels for energy to flow smoothly throughout your brain and body. Be mindful to not trip over anything while you’re walking backwards.

Nancy’s Testimonial

“After experiencing emotional congestion for several days, with a tight sensation in my stomach, a sense of being out of touch with my feelings and out of sync with myself in general, it finally occurred to me to try the ritual Dr. Young outlines in the tape for the Feelings Kit.  I got my kit out, relaxed on my bed and used the 12 fragrant oils one by one as directed, applying the recommended number of drops to the recommended locations in the recommended sequence.

‘This is pleasant, I thought to myself as I proceeded, but didn’t feel anything in particular happening.  I even tried to work up an emotional head of steam but still, nothing.  When I came to the oil blend Release, I thought, “Now I’ll cut loose,” but, alas, all I could work up was a forced tear or two.  So I finished the ritual, put my oils away and took my dog out for her afternoon walk, thinking that I must not be ready to release whatever it was that was so blocked.  About ten minutes into our stroll, it occurred to me – I felt GREAT!  I no longer felt emotionally congested and I realized that I was truly enjoying myself for the first time in days.  I had been so conditioned to having to thrash out my emotional stuff I hadn’t realized that I could release it in such a peaceful, pleasant and effortless way.  Now that’s a miracle!”  ~ Nancy S.

Richard’s Testimonial

“My sister, who had been using the oils for a long time, has had some pretty amazing things happen when using the Feelings Kit.  I’m sure you’ll hear her story soon enough.  Her experiences were the reason which got me to try the oils.  At 13 I had to go to anger management classes, had a broken family.  The list goes on but it had whirled me into a state of apathy that was destroying my social life and myself.  I had been living like this since my early teenage years and it’s hard to see what’s wrong when you’re not even sure what it is right.

Finally at 18 years old, using the oils for psoriasis with amazing results, I thought I would give the emotional aspect of the oils a try.  Only a few times after using the Feelings Kit I began to notice some things.  I cried for the first time since I can truly remember.  I had to give up being an EMT because apathy was the only thing allowing me to work in that environment.  I simply began to care about things.  No longer was anger the only emotion manifesting itself.  We know what anger can do, emotionally as well as physically.  They say anger destroys the liver, if I had only known what I know now 6 years ago.

People who have known me my whole life ask, “What’s gotten into you!  You’re so pleasant now!”  I thank the oils for bringing me back to the emotional state I should be in!  This is the most exciting aspect of the oils and my favorite to share!”  ~ Richard C.

Instead of purchasing standard household cleaners for surfaces, you can create your own natural, safe version by filling a plastic spray bottle with water and a squirt of dishwashing soap.

In a 14 oz. spray bottle: Add 6 to 10 drops each of lavender, lemon, and pine essential oils. Shake the spray bottle well, and your homemade cleaner is ready to spray.  lemon

This simple solution is extremely economical, yet it cleans and disinfects as well as any commercial cleaner.

Please keep in mind that some of the oils, if used directly, may stain some surfaces, such as linoleum; do a test area to check.

Additional antibacterial and antiviral oils that are excellent for cleaning include cinnamon, clove, Eucalyptus globulus, thyme, juniper, Melaleuca alternifolia, spruce, lemongrass, and grapefruit. Simply add 4 to 8 drops of any of these to your mixture.

Note: high quality therapeutic-grade essential oils provide cleaning benefits that cheaper aromatherapy oils do not.

Essential oils are potent. If you use just the bottle to drip them out you can only get 1 drop, but when it comes to cooking oftentimes you will find that 1 drop is too much. But how do you get less than one?

There are no kitchen tools that will accurately measure 1/4, 1/2, 2/3, etc of a drop so it really will come down to an art.

One of the ways to get less than a drop is to use a toothpick. However this will be very inaccurate because it will depend on how porous the toothpick is and how long you leave it in the recipe you are making. It can also be wasteful as the toothpick will retain some of the oil when you throw it away. Well, you can always pick your teeth with it.

A more accurate way to get closer to an exact amount is to tip the bottle slowly until the drop begins to form. When the drop is about the size you need or want, take a clean spoon and touch it to the “partial” drop. The spoon will then have what you need and you can stir it into your recipe.

Happy cooking and Bon Apetit!

The kitchen and bathroom are often a source of odors and bacteria. Use the following mixtures to freshen, deodorize, and disinfect the air, work areas, cupboards, bathroom fixtures, sinks, tiles, woodwork, carpets, door knobs, phones, keyboards, on toilets and around the base of smelly toilets, etc.

These blends are safe for the family and the environment, and smell oh so good!

The Young Living essential oils in these spray mixtures will also help eliminate germs and bacteria. Don’t expect to get these kinds of results with novelty aromatherapy oils found in health food stores.

Twenty years ago I became interested in essential oils because I was fed-up with spending a fortune on so-called natural household cleaners. I was determined to find nice smelling solutions that I could make myself for all of my household cleaning and as an air freshener. Young Living wasn’t in business twenty years ago so I had to buy my essential oils from another company, which were the best I could find at the time – they were not therapeutic-grade like Young Living’s so I could not use them topically or internally – still, I thought they were better than the ineffective natural cleaning products I was using.

I discovered Young Living oils in 1998 and as soon as my order arrived I compared my Young Living oils to the other brand I had been using – YUCK! I could not believe how disgusting the other brand of oils smelled. I threw out about $600 worth of essential oils that day, I just could not bring myself to use the inferior brand, not when I had the real deal in my hands… finally!

To this day I have not found any brand of essential oil that is more pure than my Young Living oils. I can use the Young Living oils in ways I had only dreamed – topically, internally, in cooking, as well as what got me into essential oils in the first place, for household cleaning and sanitizing.

I used Young Living oils for around 6 years before I decided to become a distributor four years ago. I just love these oils and the quality cannot be beat, their effectiveness is amazing.

The first recipe below is one of my all time favorites, I still use it even after all these years. I have found it to be superb at destroying odors and killing germs.

Tip: Since essential oils separate easily from water, always shake well and shake every so often as you use these mixtures. They will deodorize and clean the air, instead of covering or masking the odors.

Many of us use synthetic chemicals to deal with insects, which are not safe for us, our families, or pets to be exposed to. Young Living has many single essential oils such as lavender, lemon, peppermint, melaleuca, lemongrass, cypress, Eucalyptus globulus, cinnamon, thyme, basil, wintergreen, and the Purification and Thieves blends, which effectively repel many types of insects including dust mites, lice, ticks, spiders, and fleas.

For instance, Young Living’s Peppermint essential oil placed on entryways prevents ants from entering. Simply smear a couple drops along the threshold. Peppermint is also excellent for repelling ants and rodents (squirrels and mice). peppermint-1

If you need moth repellents for your linens and woolens, you can avoid toxic commercial mothballs made of naphthalene – instead use Young Living’s essential oils. Natural essential oils like lavender, lemongrass, Western Red Cedar, or Rosemary can just as effectively repel moths and other insects, without the harmful chemical exposure.

You can make a sachet by placing several drops of your chosen essential oil on a cotton ball. Wrap and tie the cotton ball in a small handkerchief or square of cotton. Hang this sachet in storage areas or in your chest of linens. The sachet can be refreshed as often as necessary. You can put this sachet in your dresser drawers to keep your clothes freshly scented.

Making a spray bottle for your Young Living oils is a terrific way to freshen air and repel unwanted insects. Here are some household cleaning blend recipes, but you can make your own combinations for insects by simply using some of the above essential oils.

If spiders are an issue in your home, I have always found that diffusing, in my Young Living nebulizer diffuser, the Young Living blends Thieves or Purification to be quite effective. If I haven’t had my diffuer on in a while or when I move into a new house that spiders start appearing and then die after I start diffusing. I find that diffusing for 15-30 minutes a day keeps the spiders away.

Palo Santo is terrific at killing embedded ticks. I put one drop of Palo Santo essential oil directly on the tick and it kills them. I also use my Young Living Lavender Shampoo once a month when I give my dog a bath, and I add to it 4-5 drops of Palo Santo – it smells terrific and helps kill any fleas and repels fleas and ticks too.
